X was a character in The Last of Us Part II. Ellie encounters him sometime after he became infected and reached stage one.[1]

X lived in the Hillcrest suburb of Seattle with his friend Uli.[2]
Defending Hillcrest[]
After the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak, X lived with his fellow Hillcrest residents under the Washington Liberation Front's rule. They feared them enough that they were against Boris Legasov's plans to fight WLF in retliation for murdering his daughter Sofia.[3] After Boris began an independent guerilla campaign against the WLF, including destroying their vehicles and mutilating their corpses,[1] X was convinced Boris' actions would cause the WLF to kill the entire Hillcrest community for falsely believing they all supported his actions. X sent Uli a note trying to convince him to conspire against Boris and turn him over to the WLF so the rest of the Hillcrest residents could be safely evacuated to SoundView Stadium. They arranged to meet after curfew.[2]
However, Boris learned of their intentions and, embittered by their betrayal, drugged them unconscious and dragged them into a garage full of spores.[4] In time, X and the others turned into runners.[1]
Events of The Last of Us Part II[]
While searching for Tommy Miller, Ellie found X's note to Uli in Hillcrest. If she opens the garage where X and the other infected Hillcrest members were trapped, they will rush out and attack her, forcing her to either flee, or kill them in self-defense.[1]
