Background[]
Marta lived in Seattle. After the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak, Marta grew discontent living under FEDRA's control in the quarantine zone and decided to join the Washington Liberation Front to fight against them. After defeating FEDRA, Marta served in the war against the Seraphites. While fighting in the war, she grew close with another WLF soldier, Paul.
After a truce was secured with the Seraphites, the pair regularly met up at an outpost. However, when the truce broke down, Seraphite patrols began scouting the area. Fearing an attack from them, Marta took all her supplies stored there and left a note advising Paul to do the same next time. She noted that she left their weaponry within reach though, observing the Seraphites soldiers still refused to even touch firearms because they came from the "old world", pre-outbreak.[2]
Events of The Last of Us Part II[]
In 2038, Abby Anderson finds Marta's note for Paul while out on patrol with Manny Alvarez and Mel.[1]
