Background[]
Kara lived with her father and younger brother within the suburbs around Pittsburgh. After the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak, Kara and her family hid within their house and rarely left to avoid attacks from looters in the area. Kara's father also entrusted her with a gun. Judging from comments her father says, Kara was small in size, as was her brother.
At some point, Kara's father left the house to gather food and supplies. In his absence, he left a note for Kara explaining she now had to protect her brother and ordered that she head to the nearby quarantine zone that the military had established if he did not return within one week. He also advised she not open the door to anyone and save her bullets for when they would need them.[2]
Events of The Last of Us Part I[]
In 2033, Joel Miller can find the note Kara's dad left her in their abandoned home while wandering through the Pittsburgh suburbs with Henry, Sam, and Ellie Williams.[1]
