The Rattler prisoner is a minor character in The Last of Us Part II.[1]

Sometime after the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak, he found his way to Santa Barbara, California. He was eventually captured by the Rattlers and was put to work in the fields around their camp, his body thinning, his head being shaved and his skin becoming sunburned from long hours working in the sun. He also suffered physical abuse while there.[1]
Events of The Last of Us Part II[]
In the summer of 2039, the prisoner met Abby Anderson and Lev, whom were also captured by the Rattlers. He worked with them, watching as Abby worked with Lev on an effort to escape the prison. The pair eventually tried to escape but were caught, the prisoner watching as they were taken to the beach to be tied up and left to slowly die from starvation and exposure to the day's heat and the night's rain.
Some time later, Ellie broke into the complex searching for Abby. She reached the main holding area where the Rattler prisoner and other slaves were located. He helped Ellie overpower the guard, stealing her keys and unlocking the cage. He then led the group out, retrieving rifles and other guns to fight against the Rattlers. One prisoner threatened to shoot Ellie, having noticed she was infected. However, the Rattler prisoner calmed the woman and informed Ellie she could find Abby by the beach. He then led the prisoners in their revolt against the Rattlers.[1]
