Background[]
Eva was a mother living in Pittsburgh with her son. She had him some years before the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak. After Pittsburgh was taken over by FEDRA and the United States military and converted into a quarantine zone, Eva's son joined a group of armed rebels intent on overthrowing the military from power. During a protest, the military captured Eva's son, labelling him a traitor and executing him.
Distraught by his death, Eva sought out the rebels still active within the city and joined them. She acquired a gun from them and joined their cause to kill more soldiers and FEDRA personnel within the city. Before conducting her first mission, she wrote a note expressing her dismay at her son's death and her belief that the city would eventually fall into ruin, whether the rebels defeated FEDRA or not.[2]
Events of The Last of Us Part I[]
Joel can later find a note Eva left years after the riots and the zone's collapse while trying to escape Pittsburgh with Ellie Williams.[1]
