Barnes is a character mentioned in The Last of Us Part II.[1]
Biography[]
Barnes was a citizen in San Diego who was one of 35 people to make it aboard captain A.J. Malidore's ferry before it left the city to escape the chaos caused by the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak in October, 2013. However, Barnes had unknowingly contracted the infection and was confined to the infirmary. Josephine Roberts was convinced he and other infected passengers should be killed but Malidore refused her request. However, by October 5, Barnes had transformed into a runner and escaped the infirmary. Josephine found Barnes by 14:50 and managed to wrestle him overboard, leading to him crashing into the water and drowning.[2]

In April, 2038, Abby Anderson can find a note aboard Malidore's ferry mentioning Barnes and his demise in Seattle.[1]
