Japan is a horse which appears in The Last of Us Part II. He was one of the horses in the Jackson community run by Maria and Tommy.[1]

Events of The Last of Us Part II[]
At some point, Dina was assigned Japan as her personal horse to ride while on patrol in Wyoming. He was kept in the settlement's stables. Dina rode him regularly, notably alongside Eugene Linden and Jesse while on patrols.
In the winter of 2038, Dina rode Japan to go out scouting along with Ellie and her horse Shimmer. She rode with her all the way to Eugene's supply station at a library and stayed there to ride out the storm. Dina later rode Japan to reach Ellie at Abby Anderson's hideout at the Baldwin mansion.[1]
After moving to their farm outside Jackson, Dina and Ellie take Japan with them, and keep him stabled in the barn.[2] However, he is not there when Ellie returns there after hunting Abby in Santa Barbara.[3]
