At some point after the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak, Marcus lived in the Seattle quarantine zone and came to dislike living under FEDRA and the military's rule. He joined the militia group known as the Washington Liberation Front and worked under the leaders, Jason and Emma Patterson. He smuggled goods in and committed what Sergeant Ward deemed acts of terrorism within the city. His illegal activities within the zone saw Ward place him on the military's watchlist of known agitators and criminals active within the city.[1]
