Grave Digger is one of Testament's Special Attacks, first appearing in the original Guilty Gear.

It became a Force Break in Guilty Gear XX Λ Core, with Badlands replacing it as a normal special attack.

Overview[]

Testament lunges forward while slashing downwards with their scythe. In the original Guilty Gear, Testament summons a demonic centipede-like creature to swipe itself down in an arc along with the scythe; in Guilty Gear X and beyond, the scythe's blade morphs into a pendulum crescent ax shape with a dreary skull face on the surface, expanding the attack's range and sees it swoop and slice further going along the ground, which may be how the attack gained its namesake.

In Guilty Gear XX, the animation was changed so that Testament spins their scythe around them, and the move can now be used in the air.

Grave Digger is one of Testament's more valued special attacks for more direct head on damage and aggressive approaches. Its large hitbox and mobility allows it great versatility, for attacking crouching opponents with an unblockable overhead, and to get in damage while closing distance immediately on foes. Because of Testament's lack of further aggressive attacks, Grave Digger can become a liability and can be anticipated if the player cannot mix up and become unpredictable to throw foes off track.
