Dandy Step, also abbreviated to D. Step, is one of Slayer's Special Attacks, first appearing in Guilty Gear XX.

Overview[]

Slayer takes a small slide back that has invincibility frames, then glides forward a short (Punch)/long (Kick) distance (which does not have any invulnerability whatsoever).

In the Accent Core games only, he also has Slash & Heavy Slash which make him delay a bit before sliding forwards to allow him to switch sides with his foe if close enough (thus he'll end up facing the opposite direction briefly). Additionally, the Force Break Dust version only added in Accent Core + R skips the back slide going only into the forward glide with full invulnerability.

Solely in the Xrd subseries however, the properties of the followups change depending on which D Step version he has used, aside from just the distance.

Additionally, his EX form in the XX games doesn't have a regular command for Dandy Step, rather having it as one of his followups to Mappa Hunch; in place of the regular Dandy Step inputs, he has Pilebunker for the Punch version, and Crosswise Heel for the Kick version.

After the back slide, Slayer can follow up with:

Attack Input Description
Punch or Dust* during Dandy Step Slayer slides forward for a strong straight punch with his rear hand, blasting his opponent back.

* The Force Break Dust version causes a wall splat. Only available in the Accent Core games.

Also one of the followups for EX Slayer's Mappa Hunch.

Kick after Dandy Step Slayer does a upwards flip-kick combo forming an energy cross, launching the opponent.

Also one of the followups for EX Slayer's Mappa Hunch.

GGXrd Under Pressure

Under Pressure (アンダープレッシャー, Andā Puresshā?)

Slash after Dandy Step Slayer swipes his following hand forwards and upwards via a claw slash, releasing a wave of purple energy.

Also one of the followups for EX Slayer's Mappa Hunch.

GGXrd Its Late

It's Late (イッツレイト, Ittsu Reito?)

  • Heavy Slash after Under Pressure or Dandy Step (GGXX series)
  • Heavy Slash during Dandy Step on its own (Accent Core games)
  • Slash or Heavy Slash after Under Pressure (GGXrd series)
Slayer does a sharp slamming overhead punch with his leading hand, causing a soft knockdown.

Also one of the followups for EX Slayer's Mappa Hunch. The standalone Heavy Slash version is replaced by Helter Skelter (below) in the following sub-series.

GGXrd Helter Skelter

Helter Skelter (ヘルタースケルター, Herutā Sukerutā?)

Heavy Slash after Dandy Step Slayer leaps forward, driving both his feet into the ground for a brief energy quake before flipping back.

Exclusive to the Guilty Gear Xrd series.
