Gekirin is one of Jam Kuradoberi's Special Attacks, first appearing in Guilty Gear X.

Overview[]

Jam leaps high and does a reverse heel-dropping kick with her leg set ablaze. The properties of the attack depend on her Breath of Asanagi stocks (DownDown + Slash):

  • 0 stocks knock the opponent back.
  • 1 stock does 2 hits and drops the opponent to the floor. Can only be used by inputting DownDown LeftLeft + Dust in the Guilty Gear XX series.

Appropriate stocks also allow her to cancel into either Ryujin or Kenrokaku.

Gekirin also hits overhead, and can be done in midair.

Trivia[]

  • Gekirin (逆鱗) can mean one of two things:
    • Inverted Scale: a specific scale on a Chinese dragon's body that will incite its fury if flipped the other way.
    • Imperial Wrath: the act of provoking the wrath of a king or emperor.
      • Both of these according to the law written within the Han Fei Zi, are meant to be compared as one and the same, given how monarchs during feudal Chinese times were compared to that of spiritual and/or heavenly dragons. The specific scale rubbed the wrong way is meant to symbolize that despite the figure and/or mythical creature being normally docile and just, it would still bring grave misfortune and/or swift death to those that incite provocation.
