The Legendary Groudon is one of Pokémon Go’s strongest ground-type Pokémon, making it a must-have in raids. Our Pokémon Go Groudon raid guide explains Groudon’s best counters, weaknesses, and best movesets.

Groudon best counters and weaknesses

To take Groudon down, build up a team of Pokémon with ice-, water-, or grass-type moves. The best Groudon counters and movesets are:

  • Kyogre with Waterfall and Hydro Pump
  • Galarian Darmatian with Ice Fang and Avalanche
  • Kingler with Bubble and Crab Hammer
  • Roserade with Razor Leaf and Grass Knot

Different weather boosts different types, too. Sunny or clear weather boosts grass-type moves, snow boosts ice-type moves, and rain boosts water-type moves.

Groudon best moveset

Once you have a Groudon, set it up with Mud Shot and Earthquake to make it a great ground-type attacker. Using Solar Beam as a charge move is actually quite good if you need a grass-type attacker.

Can Groudon be Shiny?

Lucky players may encounter a Shiny Groudon. If you do see a Shiny, you’ll catch it on the first ball you hit it with, so use a Pinap Berry to score some extra candy.
