Cobalion is one of the many potential raid targets in Pokémon Go’s tier five raids. In our Pokémon Go guide, we’ll list out the best counters and weaknesses for Cobalion, as well as show off its Shiny form.

Cobalion counters and weaknesses

To take on Cobalion, use fighting-, ground-, and fire-type moves. We recommend any of the following:

  • Machamp with Counter and Dynamic Punch
  • Reshiram with Fire Fang and Overheat
  • Chandelure with Fire Spin and Overheat
  • Moltres with Fire Spin and Overheat

Other good Pokémon to use would be any of the fire-type starters with Community Day move Blast Burn, like Charizard. If you have the resources to use powerhouses like Mega Charizard Y or X, you should do so.

Take advantage of weather boosts to power up your moves even further. Sunny weather boosts ground- and fire-type moves. Cloudy weather boosts fighting-type moves.

Best moveset for Cobalion

The best moveset for Cobalion is Metal Claw and Sacred Sword. However, Sacred Sword is a limited-time Legacy move, so if you don’t have access to it, give it Iron Head instead.

Is Cobalion available Shiny?

Yes, Cobalion is available Shiny. If you do see a Shiny, it will catch on the first ball you hit it with, so use a Pinap Berry to score some extra candy.
