Pokémon Go level 41-50 guide: required XP and tasks

As a part of a large Pokémon Go update, players can now level past 40 and up to 50.

However, unlike past levels that only required massive amounts of XP, players will also have to complete some tasks, many of which are time-consuming. You’ll have to use everything you’ve learned up to this point to progress further, including PvP and raiding strategy.

All that being said, don’t feel a need to rush through the tasks you’ll have to complete, as you’ll need to earn that monstrous amount of XP, too, which will take a while. Adding new friends and ranking up your friendship is still a great way to earn XP.

Check out the requirements for each level below.

Requirements for level 41

• 6,000,000 XP
• Power up a Legendary Pokémon 20 times
• Win 30 raids
• Catch 200 Pokémon in a single day

The best way to catch 200 Pokémon in one day will likely be hanging out around lures on a Pokémon Community Day, as well as using an Incense.

Requirements for level 42

• 7,500,000 XP
• Evolve Eevee into each of its unique evolutions
• Use items to evolve Pokémon 15 times
• Make 3 excellent throws
• Use 200 berries to help catch Pokémon

Requirements for level 43

• 9,000,000 XP
• Earn 100,000 Stardust
• Use 200 super effective charged attacks
• Catch 5 Legendary Pokémon
• Earn 5 Platinum Medals

Platinum medals are a new medal type above gold. They can be earned by doing things like catching all the Pokémon in one region, competing in thousands of gym battles, or having lots of Best Friends.

Requirements for level 44

• 11,000,000 XP
• Win 30 trainer battles in the Great League
• Win 30 trainer battles in the Ultra League
• Win 30 trainer battles in the Master League
• Win 20 Battles in the Go Battle League

Requirements for level 45

• 13,000,000 XP
• Defeat 100 Team Go Rocket grunts
• Purify 100 Shadow Pokémon
• Defeat a Team Go Rocket leader 50 times
• Collect 10 Platinum medals

Requirements for level 46

• 15,500,000 XP
• Complete 100 Field Research Tasks
• Take a snapshot of a Pokémon 7 days in a row
• Make 50 excellent throws
• Hatch 30 eggs

Requirements for level 47

• 18,000,000 XP
• Win 30 raids using a team of all unique Pokémon species
• Win a three-star raid using only Pokémon with 1,500 CP or less
• Power up 6 Pokémon to their max CP
• Get 20 Platinum Medals

Requirements for level 48

• 21,000,000 XP
• Recieve 20 Souvenirs from your buddy
• Earn 200 hearts with your buddy
• Walk 200 kilometers with your buddy
• Walk 25 kilometers in a week 8 times

Requirements for level 49

• 25,000,000 XP
• Make 10 trades with Pokémon caught at least 300 km apart
• Obtain 50 Lucky Pokémon in trades
• Send 500 gifts to friends
• Obtain 35 Platinum medals

Requirements for level 50

• 30,000,000 XP
• Make 999 excellent throws
• Catch a Legendary Pokémon in your next 5 Legendary Pokémon encounters
• Defeat a Team Go Rocket Leader 3 times using only Pokémon with 2,500 CP or less
• Reach Rank 10 in Go Battle League
