Pokémon Go guide: A Thousand-Year Slumber Jirachi quest

Jirachi is available to players in Pokémon Go who complete a quest called “A Thousand-Year Slumber.” The Mythical wish Pokémon is only obtainable through a set of Special Research Tasks.

As with the other sets of Special Research Tasks for Mew and Celebi, read through this list before you get started, as some of the requirements involve using tons of candy or special items that may be hard to come by.

Jirachi is not available Shiny and doing this quest will not yield a Shiny Jirachi.

Like the other Mythical Pokémon, Jirachi is not great at raiding, but it does see use in PvP. Its best PvP moveset is Confusion with Doom Desire and Psychic, according to GamePress.

All eight steps for Jirachi’s quest are listed below.

• Catch 25 Pokémon (1,000 XP)
• Spin 10 PokéStops or Gyms (Jigglypuff Encounter)
• Make 3 new friends (Feebas encounter)

Rewards: 1 Moss Lure, 1 Glacial Lure, 1 Magnetic Lure

• Catch 3 Whismur (10 Whismur Candies)
• Evolve a Feebas (1,500 XP)
• Get a gold medal for the Hoenn Pokédex (1,500 XP)

Rewards: 2,000 Stardust, 10 Pokéballs, 3 Incense

• Take a snapshot of Loudred (Snorlax encounter)
• Make 3 Great Throws in a row (2,000 XP)
• Earn 3 Candies walking with your buddy (2,000 XP)

Rewards: 20 Silver Pinap berries, 3 Star Pieces, 2,000 Stardust

• Catch 50 psychic- or steel-type Pokémon (2,500 XP)
• Power up Pokémon 10 times (2,500 XP)
• Send 10 gifts to friends (2,500 XP)

Rewards: Fast TM, Premium Raid Pass, Charge TM

• Battle a team leader 3 times (Kricketune encounter)
• Win against another trainer 7 times (3,000 XP)
• Win 5 raids (3,000 XP)

Rewards: 3 Rare Candies, 20 Ultra Balls, 3,000 Stardust

• Take 5 photos of steel or psychic Pokémon (Chimecho encounter)
• Make 3 excellent curveball throws (Bronzong encounter)
• Spin a Poké Stop 7 days in a row (4,000 XP)

• Claim reward (4,500 XP)

Rewards: 20 Jirachi Candy, 1 Jirachi shirt, Jirachi encounter

Once you complete Jirachi research, the Pokémon will appear, and you’ll have unlimited tries to catch it. You must catch the Jirachi with AR mode on, unfortunately, but keep slinging balls and you’ll nab it eventually.

Jirachi isn’t a great raider, but after catching it, there will be only one more Hoenn Pokémon unreleased in the game: Kecleon.
