The Hive Mother is a boss found within the Larva Hive biome.
Behavior[]
The Hive Mother is a stationary boss with a large amount of health. It will spit Acid Slime at the player which will stay unless shoveled up. She will also summon Big Red Larvae and Red Larvae, which are stronger than normal Larvae.

- A special version of this fight can be fought by using a Haunted Hive Mother Summoning Idol on the Hive Mother's rune.
- This boss can be located using the Hive Mother Scanner.

Tips[]
- One should get the best gear available before battling the boss. For armor, Carapace Armor obtained after defeating Ghorm the Devourer with Iron Pants. For weapons, the Iron Sword/Battle Axe and Iron Bow/Flintlock Musket would be best.
- Placing 2 rows of Spike Traps and carefully avoiding the Acid can alleviate some of the pressure of the spawned enemies.
- Note that the Acid from the boss will still affect the squares it has landed on.
- Repeating the Hive Mother fight using a Hive Mother Summoning Idol can be a great way to raise vitality and melee skills.
- An Iron Hoe is useful for quickly removing large patches of acid if too much builds up to avoid.
- The acid can be ignored altogether by consuming any cooked food containing Green Blister Head, which will make the player immune to acid for 5 minutes.
- If you want to refight this boss put spike traps under the summoning rune before using the summoning idol.

- 0.4.0-3f9c: The Big Larvas from Hive Mother eggs can now destroy Hive Walls when chasing the player.
