Dex Thompson is one of the recurring characters in Sex Education. He is portrayed by Lino Facioli.
He was a member of the Aptitude Scheme and Quiz Heads.
Throughout the Series[]
Season 2[]
Dex is a member of the Quiz Heads team, and fails to notice that fellow team member Vivienne, who he improperly calls "Bev", has a crush on him. Dex is made to believe that Vivienne has casual sex with Jackson, and they exchange phone numbers. However, their relationship never really goes further than the Quiz Head team, especially because of Dex's obsession with his Rubik's cube. Although the team is victorious at the finals, Dex and Vivienne grow further from each other as Dex mocks Jackson for being part of the school play while Vivienne praises Jackson for trying something new and criticizes Dex for having nothing to talk about except his Rubik's cube skills.
Season 3[]
In season 3, Dex is first seen seeking out help from Kyle for sex help after that resulted in a disappointed girlfriend. She told him to do some research, as her last boyfriends and hook-ups were more successful. He is advised to measure his size and that size is the only factor that matters. Dex quickly becomes insecure about the size of his penis and decides to measure, but grows awkward and nervous at the sound of others in the bathroom. He runs out, naked and ends up using Aimee’s goat as a shield. Eventually, he ends up talking to Otis, Maeve as well as Kyle and is given advice and that he should be confident in his body.

They met sometime between seasons 2 and 3, as in the first episode of the third season they're having sex. At first, she didn't enjoy having sex with Dex, but after he got advice from Otis and Maeve, he was finally able to please her.
Friends[]
Vivienne Odusanya (friend/former teammate)[]
Vivienne previously had a crush on Dex and the two are Quiz Heads teammates. Jackson gave Vivienne advice on how to talk to Dex and get his attention, but Dex showed little interest in Vivienne, often referring to her as Bev. After witnessing Dex repeatedly talk about himself and show off, Vivienne began to lose interest.
Steve Morley (friend/former teammate)[]
Steve was Dex's teammate in Quiz Heads.
Maeve Wiley (friend/former teammate)[]
Maeve is Dex's former Quiz Heads teammate. Shortly after Maeve got into the team, Viv and Dex, didn't like Maeve's individualism, as she didn't cooperate with them while answering the questions during the competitions.
In season 3, Maeve, alongside Otis also helped Dex out after he had his clothes taken away and later was made to walk around school naked. Maeve and Otis end up giving Dex advice that made Dex realize that he shouldn't be ashamed of the lenght of his penis and that he should be more creative while having sex with his girlfriend to finally please her.
Personality[]
Dex is generally awkward with many ideas. He can be quite awkward and dramatic at times. He is obsessed with his Rubik's cube.
