Carol Iglehart is one of the recurring characters in Sex Education. She is portrayed by Sophie Thompson.

She is Lily's mother, who's a nurse.
After being humiliated by Hope in front of whole school, Lily didn't want to come back there as she was acting to be sick. Carol saw that something wasn't right about her, but she did not want to force her to come back to school. With several occasions, unsuccessfully, she wanted Lily to open up to her.

Lily Iglehart (daughter)[]
Lily is Carol's daughter. Mrs. Iglehart has a hard time understanding Lily's interest in aliens.
When Lily was young and Lily's teacher talked to Mrs. Iglehart about Lily's sexual alien stories, Mrs. Iglehart was embarrassed and felt awkward talking to her daughter about it. In season 3, when Lily didn't want to go to school, after she was humiliated by the headmistress, Carol tries to cheer her daughter up, even telling her the story about how she saw an alien-like object when she was at nurse school.

Mrs. Iglehart seems to be a caring person, being a nurse and being concerned for her daughter Lily.

- In episode 3.8, when she's trying to make Lily not throwing the alien stuff out, she claimed that when she was at nursing college and once was coming back from the pub she saw this immensely bright, green light in the sky; thinking this was an alien.
