These little grubs may look cute, but they're very aggressive when it comes to Explorers. You're likely to find a handful of Larva in most parts of the Larva Biome, and they can be taken care of with a couple of well-timed attacks…it's their cocoons you've got to watch out for. Step too close, and they'll start to hatch (we think it has something to do with the Explorer's body heat), spewing out multiple Larvae at once. Don't you just Larva challenge?

The Larva is a common enemy native to the Clay Caves and Larva Hive. They spawn in and attack in small groups, and can be a threat to players without adequate armor.

Tips[]

  • It is best to have at least Bronze armor when dealing with Larva; since they attack in large groups, they can shred through weaker armor rather quickly.
  • A Fireball Staff is extremely effective against large hordes of Larvae. Both the projectile and the burn damage combined can take out large amounts of Larvae very fast.
  • Axes are also really useful against groups of Larvae - especially their alternate swing attack, which will give you a fair amount of distance between a player and a horde, all while still doing extreme amounts of damage.
  • When building Larva farms, it is best to use strong walls, such as Stone Wall and stronger. This wall is too strong for a Larva to break through.
