Roz Marchetti

Roz Marchetti (née Anderson) is one of the recurring characters in Sex Education. She is portrayed by Sharon Duncan-Brewster.

She is one of Jackson's mothers. She is more laid-back than her wife.

Early Life[]

When Roz was around 20 years old, she had an affair with a married man. She got pregnant and later had Jackson. At first, she found it stressful, but with time she realized that she was happy. Despite Jerome already having a family, Roz kept sending him letters and photos of Jackson, in order to show him how wonderful their son was and hoping for him to change his mind and take part in Jackson's life. Despite her best efforts, Jerome was just sending back the letters unopened. Then, Roz met Sofia and they wanted to raise Jackson together, as a family.

Throughout the Series[]

Season 1[]

After Jackson introduces Maeve to Roz and her wife, she seems to accept her, unlike Sofia, who treats Maeve skeptical. She often has a different opinion on anything than her wife, what often causes fights between them.

Season 2[]

After Jackson broke his arm, Roz knows it wasn't an accident and feels that he doesn't want to swim anymore. She has totally different opinion on it than her wife, Sofia, who wants Jackson to be back in pool as soon as possible, not realizing under what kind of pressure Jackson is.

In episode 2.8, she's seen on the audience watching her son, Jackson as Romeo in the school play.

Season 4[]

After Jackson wants to find his biological father, Roz, after so many years of lies, decides to tell Jackson the truth. He gets mad at her and leaves, but eventually forgives her and they share a hug.

Jackson Marchetti (son)[]

Jackson is Roz's son. Roz is Jackson's biological mother. She's way more relaxed that her wife and wants Jackson to enjoy his life as a teenager, which often causes fights between her and Sofia, who wants Jackson to put swimming on the first place. When Jackson tells them that he doesn't want to swim anymore, she accepts his decision, knowing how much pressure he was under. She's also proud of Jackson while watching him as a Romeo in the school play. After Jackson found out about Jerome, he got mad at Roz and Sofia, but eventually, after Jerome showed that he didn't want to know Jackson, he apologized to his mothers and the three shared a family hug.

Sofia Marchetti (wife)[]

Sofia is Roz's wife. When the two met, Roz had Jackson, but Sofia didn't mind it and felt in love with her. The two decided to be a family. With time Roz and Sofia started falling apart. They seemed to be a perfect family. But, despite having a child, and a huge, pretty house, Roz and Sofia were two completely different people. Sofia was rather uptight and nervous, whereas Roz was more relaxed, trying to convince Sofia that Jackson should have had more time to himself, and she should stop making him spend his whole time on swimming. According to Jackson, he was the glue that sticked them together, and if there was not him, they would get divorced already.

Some time later, Jackson openly told them that they should get divorced, because they didn't understand each other anymore. Despite this Roz and Sofia started getting along well again after season 2 finale.

In season 4 the two decided to tell Jackson the truth about his biological father.

Roz Marchetti is a relaxed mother and tries to convince her wife, Sofia Marchetti, to let Jackson have more free time.
