Adam Groff & Eric Effiong is a romantic relationship on the Netflix series Sex Education. It started at the end of season 1, when they had sex after being punished after classes.
History[]
Season 1[]
Adam bullies Eric, calling him "Tromboner", insulting him and stealing his lunch for almost the entire season. The situation suddenly changed, in episode 8, when both of them got detention together. During detention, Adam watched as Eric cleaned up the classroom, when suddenly Eric called Adam an arsehole. The two began to argue and fight. Eric spit on Adam, so Adam pinned Eric onto the floor and spit back. They stared into each other's eyes and then began making out and then Adam gives Eric a blowjob.
Season 2[]
When Adam got expelled from military school, he comes back home and starts to going on a long night walks with Eric, mainly smashing some stuff on a junkyard. In episode 2.4, after one of the walks, they're sharing a kiss.
In episode 2.5, Eric starts to avoid Rahim (his present boyfriend, cheated on him with Adam), still thinking about Adam.
In episode 2.8, Adam (after a talk with his mom), decides to declare his feeling to Eric. He runs onto the stage during the production of Romeo & Juliet and calls out Eric's name. Eric, who was playing French horn in the orchestra, got up onto the stage. Adam professed their love for Eric, and it was reciprocated.

Season 3[]
In the first scene of season 3, they're having fun in Adam's room. Throughout the first episodes of the season, Adam's struggles with being an official LGBT person, being called names by other students, who laugh at him. Adam's preparing for telling his mom about being in a relationship with Eric, and both of them are preparing for their first mutual gay sex. Adam is the one who's afraid about this, and as he stated in episode 3.2, that's not what he wants, which made Eric very mad. After all, Adam comes to Effiong house, saying sorry to Eric, revealing that he does not know how to describe his feelings and in fact he wants Eric to put his dick in him. After that, they're having sex in Eric's room.
In episode 3.3, they're going on a double date with Otis and Ruby. Later in the season, Eric's leaving to Nigeria for his cousin's wedding, where he meets Oba, the photographer of the wedding. Later, Eric goes to a party with him, and then sharing a passionate kiss with him, cheating on Adam. In the meantime, there's a school trip to France, where Adam becomes friends with Rahim (Eric's ex-boyfriend), who later helps Adam with understanding and writing poetry.
In episode 3.7, Eric tells Adam about the kiss, Adam forgives him.
In episode 3.8, Adam wrote a poem for Eric and gave it to Rahim to rate it. Later, during coming back from school with Adam, Eric reveals him that it was not just a stupid kiss and it was something. Later, Eric says some things about their relationship: that he's ready to fly and Adam's just learning to walk. And finally, breaking up with Adam, walking away from him.
Season 4[]
Adam and Eric meet for the first time since their breakup at the funeral of Maeve's mother, during which the two sit beside one another. Eric asks Adam if he's ever told his parents about being in a relationship with him. Adam agrees, which positively surprises Eric. Adam also asks Eric how long it took him to finally accept himself as gay.
After the whole ceremony, the two share a hug.

Trivia[]
- In season 3, when Aimee's talking to Maureen, she says that Adam seems happier ever since he started dating with Eric.
- Until the beginning of their relationship, Adam did not think he had a heart, as he stated in his love poem written for Eric.
- In the last episodes of seasons 1-3, something happens between them. In episode 8, they have sex during detention, and then hold hands during science class, in Episode 2.8, Adam declares his love to Eric and asks him to be his boyfriend, and in episode 3.8, Eric breaks up with Adam.
- Rahim and Oba are considered to be rivals of Adam and Eric's relationship, because Eric chose Adam over Rahim, who Eric had been seeing at the time, and Eric cheated on Adam with Oba in Nigeria.
