Fishing is a game mode introduced in Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-.
Overview[]
In the Guilty Gear Xrd series, selecting the Fishing option has the player enter a lone, offline lobby where a small, circular pond with an island in its midst for them to fish for unlockable items within the game - character colors, songs, artwork etc...as well as, of course, fish. This can also be used to fish for Elphelt Valentine's original outfit from Xrd -Sign- without having to pay the required amount for it in the Gallery. Furthermore, fishing is not a free service - players will have to spend 200W$ to fish for one item, or 2,000W$ for ten items.
Since the items players can get are randomized, any duplicates they could get would be replaced by a fish. Should the player get 10 fish, they will get a guaranteed new item on their next draw.
In Guilty Gear -Strive-, the mechanic remains much the same - however, the player is taken to the top floor of an empty server to fish for their items. As well as the aforementioned items, players can fish for items to customize their avatar.
