A pit is any location not being occupied by a ground block or liquid. Pits can be filled in with ground objects, or created by digging ground up; pits can also be filled in with an liquid. Bridges can be used to cross pits without damaging any decorations found within.
Pits can be found throughout the world, separating different locations. While many small pits can be found scattered about, a large circular pit, can be found surrounding the inner three biomes. (although land bridges do cross this pit commonly.) Three long outstretched pits can also be found reach out from the large circular pit and crossing between the three outer biomes.
