The Matrix 5 is the upcoming fifth installment in The Matrix franchise. It will be written and directed by Drew Goddard[1], while Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures will produce and globally distribute the film.

According to Warner Bros. Motion Pictures president of production Jesse Ehrman, the film's story "will advance the fantasy world without straying too far from what made the series a success."[1]

A fifth Matrix film was in the works as early as April 2024. The script will be written by Drew Goddard, with Lana Wachowski named as excutive producer. It is unclear which previous characters will return.[1]
The idea for the film was pitched by Goddard to Warner Bros.[1]
