For the longest time, I wouldn't believe it. And then I saw the fields with my own eyes, watched them liquefy the dead so they could be fed intravenously to the living. And standing there, facing the pure, horrifying precision, I came to realize the obviousness of the truth.

Neo, removing the feeding tube by which he was intravenously fed liquefied human remains

A liquefaction facility is where the dead (or dying) humans are taken by the Machines in order to liquefy them. The liquefied biological matter is then intravenously force-fed back to any of the still living humans sleeping in their pods in the power plants. The liquefaction facilities can be described as a type of sewer system where the sewage are directed back to the pods for human consumption.

Normally, the facilities only processed humans who have died within their pods, thereby simply flushing down the expired bodies from their pods and into the liquefaction facilities. However, redpills are also sometimes killed in the Real World and the Machines, for the sake of efficiency, normally carry any viable corpse back into the nearest liquefaction facilities.[1]
