Kocis

Kocis (コーキス, Kookisu^?) is one of the protagonists of Tales of the Rays. He is Ix Nieves's mirrite.

History[]

Tales of the Rays[]

During the search of Phillip Reston's mirrage in the Mirrist Temple, Kanonno Earhart persuades Ix Nieves to try and summon a mirrite of his own in order to speed up the search. Kocis is a mirrite that is the embodiment of Ix's powers. He provides information and support during Ix and Mileena Weiss's journey.

Mirrage Prison[]

When Ix's mirrage goes berserk and his powers increase enormously, Kocis is able to mature in proportion. Ix gives him the order "to protect Mileena" before being sealed away. After this, Kocis is following Mileena on her journey to discover a way to save Ix.

Fairy's Requiem[]

Kocis awakened free of pain, but quickly found it replaced by worry and loneliness. For his pain had been an echo of Ix's pain, and its absence meant only that his master had cut him off from sharing it. New feelings roiled within him, but his desire to be with Ix forever remained steadfast in his heart.

Last Cradle[]

It is later revealed that Kocis possesses the power of the Eye of Balor (バロールの魔眼^?) beneath his eyepatch. Told that its power could destroy the world, Kocis leaves Ix's party behind to find out more about it and ends up joining with Nazar's group.

Appearance and Personality[]

Kocis first appears as a small mirrite, with the same overall appearance as Karia. He has cornflower blue hair on the top, that trails into vanilla blonde on the bottom, siren-red eyes, and anakiwa-turquoise wings. In addition, a gold ornament with a green cross can be seen in his hair. Kocis wears an east bay blue full-body uniform that extends into his shoes. Over that is a turquoise blue uniform with short sleeves, a white vest, all held together by a hot pink belt.

Unlike Ix, who is careful and well-prepared, Kocis is very casual and his speaking tone informal. Ix often worries that Kocis might be a little bit too rude. His kind heart and deep concern for Ix often places Kocis at odds with his master, who prefers to bear his burdens alone.

In his human form, Kocis undergoes a drastic altercation in appearances. His hair is now oxford blue on the top, and fades to white on the bottom, and he hears a black strap over his left eye.

During the Mirrage Prison arc, Kocis wears a steel gray full body, skintight uniform that head his head ornament around the neck. Over it, a white vest outlines with red, and white pants following the same pattern. In addition, on Kocis's right hand is a red, fingerless glove made of leather, while his left arm is heavily armored, including a gauntlet of silver and red colors. He also wears black shoes with leg guards in front of them.

In the Fairy's Requiem arc and onward, Kocis now wears a black, buttoned shirt with a red scarf around his neck, and black pants, each patterned with red. The sleeves of the pants are cut up to below the kneecaps, revealing his metal shoes. On Kocis's right hand is a black glove. His left arm however is covered by a silver gauntlet, and a black mantle over the shoulder.

Kocis's outfits in his adult form are a direct reflection of Ix's desired sense of style. Kocis claims the outfits, particularly his eyepatch, are "lame." He thinks Claus F. Lester looks cool due to his tattoos and hat.

Fighting Style[]

During the Mirrage Prison arc, gameplay-wise Kocis replaces Ix, using all of his equipment, his skills, as well as his artes. The sword he uses is relatively bigger than Ix's, with the sheathe being prominently featured on his back. During this time, he gains four new artes, Shugohoujin, Shugo Hououjin, Kousou Kyouressen, and the Overray mirrage arte, Shungeki Genmashingan, the latter of which has him use his full power, sealed in his left eye, in one burst. All of these artes would later be integrated into Ix by the third arc.

When Kocis becomes his own playable character in Fairy's Requiem, separate from his master, Kocis's battle style changes. He now wields a double-bladed spear, the same one that appears in Kousou Kyouressen. His artes are fast-paced attacks, and can access a variety of elements, as well as cover a wide variety of range, allowing him to build long combos that don't give his enemy any room to breathe.

As the story progresses, Kocis learns a plethora of Wind-elemental artes, which is later reflected in his Spirit Gear, which draws power from Sylph.
