Baldo Mistleton (バルド・ミストルテン Barudo Misutoruten?), is a protagonist in Tales of the Rays: Recollection. He is an Illusionare created from the original Baldo.

History[]

When he awoke, Baldo was alone. Unaware of what had happened to him, he was pursued by Illusionares, wandered, and passed out. When he finally woke up, he realized that he had been left behind by the flow of time. The master he swore to protect had already passed away, and his close companions were gone. And above all, he does not even have confirmation that is even Baldo himself. In order to find out the truth, Baldo set out alone into an unknown world.

Appearance and Personality[]

Baldo Mistleton (TotR)

Mistleton has an indigo right eye, whereas his left has a big scar down his cheek, hiding behind an eyepatch. His light brown hair is tied in a ponytail by a dark hairband.

Mistleton has the same relative appearance and outfit as the original Baldo, with some key differences, including the fact that it ripped in certain areas; The light brown top part is replaced with a long cape patched together, the several different necklaces and three different bracelets around his left hand are missing, and the single golden bracelet around his right is replaced with green bandage wrapping.

Like Baldo, Mistleton has a calm and gentlemanly demeanor. He is unfailingly polite and speaks very formally. He has a weakness for women, even to the point of physically defending Ernat Perusha when she was attacked while he was confronting her about the rainbow night. He is often mistaken for flirting with women due to how he speaks to them, though he is often unaware of how anyone reached that conclusion.

Unlike Baldo, Mistleton is often very gloomy. His self-perceived inability to protect Woden Rot Nibelung and Mercuria weighs heavily on him, and he often reflects on this and talks about them. This only worsens as he begins to doubt his identity as "Baldo", and then learns his own true origin.

Fighting Style[]

Despite still possessing the original katanas, Mistleton instead uses a lantern to summon Water-, Earth-, or Dark-elemental will-o'-wisps in combat.

Trivia[]

  • Baldo's name is derived from that of Baldur, the Norse God of invincibility.
    • As such, the surname "Mistleton" derives from Mistletoe, Baldur's only weakness.
