Incubus was the son of Azhmodeus and the dark entity that once ruled the Nightshade Dimension, having usurped control of it from the royal family. He later would come into conflict with the Suicide Squad, most notably with Nightshade and June Moone due to the former being a royal descendant of the Nightshade Dimension's royal family and the latter housing his sibling Succubus responsible for June's personality as the Enchantress.
The Incubus was created by David Kaler in Charlton Comics' in Captain Atom #87 (1967) but was only mentioned, and was adapted for DC Comics' Post-Crisis continuity by John Ostrander and Luke McDonnell, first appearing in Suicide Squad #14 (1988).
