- The series was originally developed by HBO Max in 2021 as an spin-off of Doom Patrol, but it was moved from HBO Max to Netflix a year later, with Neil Gaiman confirming the series would be set in the same universe as The Sandman. The series was moved due to being incompatible with James Gunn and Peter Safran's plans to have HBO Max's DC shows be set in the new DC Universe.[1][2][3][4]
- Filming for the series began on November 7, 2022 in Canada, and concluded on April 5, 2023. The pilot episode was originally filmed between December 2021 and January 2022.[5][3][6]
