GGST Blood Rage Gauge

Blood Gauge.

Nagoriyuki is a mid-ranged character with a reactive gameplan that is designed to punish misses, his Normal Attacks being characterized by a very good range and for pushing him and the opponent towards the corner. He has no dash or double-jump, however, and moves very slowly, his only fast movement option being Fukyo for teleporting forward or backward with some invincibility and for crossing his opponent up multiple times. Nagoriyuki also possesses the unique feature to use one Special Attack after another at the cost of filling an extra meter called the Blood Gauge (ブラッドゲージ, Buraddo Gēji?),[1] a double-edged tool.

All of his special moves—Zarameyuki, Kamuriyuki, Shizuriyuki, and the aforementioned Fukyo—fill up the gauge, which is divided into three sections (each bar counting as 100 points). Using a move will add 90 points, except for Fukyo, which increases it by 43.2 points.[2] It gradually decreases over time as long as no special moves are used, and can be intentionally lowered via two methods: one is successfully landing Bloodsucking Universe, which depletes it entirely, and the other is using his Heavy Slash and his SlashSlashSlash normal attacks.

Every section filled enhances Nagoriyuki's Slash and Heavy Slash normals but also increases the damage he takes: +11% at one bar, +25% at two bars[2]. Upon filling entirely, he enters the Blood Rage (ブラッドレイジ, Buraddo Reiji?) state, which puts him in a vulnerable state for a few seconds and visually consist of his mask bursting off him, revealing red eyes, and his blade dripping with blood. In this state, his normals will be at their strongest, and he gains access to the Overdrive Attack Zansetsu, but it will severely restrict Nagoriyuki's attacks (disables his special moves) and rapidly drains up to 50% of his health. It cannot kill him, but may leave him with 1 HP, allowing any attack that deals chip damage to finish him off.[2] It is possible to intentionally enter Blood Rage in controlled circumstances to make use of the power boost, but as a general rule, it should be avoided.
