Guilty Gear -Strive- Starter Guide -11 - Leo

Leo Whitefang is a recurring playable character who first appeared in Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-.

Stats[]

Playstyle[]

An all-rounder who turns his back to his opponent as he fights, Leo is an extremely aggressive rushdown character. He is also a "stance" character, having two of them: his regular stance with access to basic mechanics such as guarding and jumping, and his Brynhildr stance that has Leo turn his back towards the opponent and gives him access to new moves and specials, but during which he cannot jump or block (but gains access to Kahn Schild).

Jump canceling or getting hit ends the stance. His primary goal is to score a knockdown and change into Brynhild Stance to apply mixups. In the Xrd games, he can enter Brynhildr stance by holding Heavy Slash, or holding Right + Heavy Slash, whereas in Strive, only upon a successful ground throw, crossing up with Kaltes Gestöber Zweit, or holding Slash when using Turbulenz, Leo will switch into the stance. Safely switching in and out of Brynhildr stance is a requirement, and thus a player should also use projectiles, or one of his far reaching normals, to do full combos without relying too much on the stance.

As drawback, Leo doesn't have nearly as much mobility and speed as other characters, having a step dash instead of the standard run. And while he has many excellent pressure options, he has a lacklustre neutral and aerial prowess.
