Background[]
Adler, along with Carpenter and at least one other Free States member, was sent into the Cranberry Bog to investigate the Brotherhood of Steel's cryptic transmission of "Defiance has fallen." Not prepared for the amount of Scorched and Scorchbeasts in the bog, the group lost Carpenter and ended up keeping to the trenches to hide, though they learned from a hiding farmer that Defiance referred to Fort Defiance and that the Brotherhood was dead. They continued trying to reach Fort Defiance until turning back on March 14, 2096. Adler was angered by this decision.[1]
