Sandbox is a building game made by NullSenseStudio. The game is disputably thought to be published originally on July 25, 2008, and given an unknown title. Furthermore, the game has been copied numerous times by the community, more notably by Jaredvaldez4, however it is constantly being protected by the Moderators from the group 'Sandbox Fan Club' owned by NullSenseStudio. These moderators have in-game admin commands.
Most of the furniture items and models were made by MrStupidWorm, the co-creator of Sandbox, while the Christmas items from 2011 were created by Monkey727.
The BC-only version was one the longest recurring games in the BC Only Games bar until it was removed. However, the BC Only Games bar was recently added back and Sandbox BC is likely to stay in it for a while.
In 2013, Sandbox BC became a normal game available to both NBC and BC players. As such, the game has been split up into two identical copies.
Both games receive around 50-150 players online at any given time daily, however this number is a lot less than what it used to be around 2014–2015. This is possibly because there are new building games which use F3X tools, which are an updated version of the normal Roblox building tools. Despite this the game is still growing in visits and has suprassed a combined 30M+ visits as of March 2019.
Gameplay[]
Sandbox map
The player spawns at the center of a gigantic 8-plate map, where they can build on their own plate (named Base in the game). Its persistence feature is more complex than other systems, as players can save an undefined number of creations and bring them out in another server for later use.
However, Sandbox's saving system was originally outdated, allowing data corruption to many player files. Currently, Sandbox has moved all of its data saving to Data stores, which is more secure and is still supported by the Roblox engineers.
Fan Club and Ingame Moderators[]
Sandbox has many fan clubs including the official Sandbox Fan Club with over 9000 members. People who join start off as Fans and can become a Featured Builder when showing off a creation to a staff member.
MrStupidWorm used to have a special rank in the Fan Club, but was later changed to a Community Manager.
VIP[]
Sandbox uses t-shirts to grant players access to special in-game perks. Originally, Ultra VIP, the highest type of VIP, was unobtainable, until it was later released as a t-shirt as well. Wearing these t-shirts are not required, and players still receive the perks by owning them. All of the t-shirts have identical prices and it does not matter what order the player purchased them in. Your level of VIP is determined by the amount of t-shirts you have. The game also sell these shirts in-game in the "VIP Store" tab.
