This time last week we joined airport and industry partners, brands and competitors at The Airport F&B + Hospitality Conference & Awards (FAB) in Ontario, California, USA. It was inspiring to see some of our leaders take to the stage: David Mackay shared his thoughts about the impact of converging channels on the evolution of F&B; Bastiaan van Asten presented learnings from Avolta’s Sustainable Food Route partnership with Royal Schiphol Group; and Laura FitzRandolph provided fresh insights about effectively developing and retaining our people – a common challenge across the industry. Big congratulations to Walter Seib, who was recognized for his Outstanding Contribution to the Airport Food & Beverage Industry. We are immensely proud to see some of our team members recognized as FAB Superstars Awards Winners or Highly Commended recipients. More distillery concepts are landing at airports across North America, and they're poised to take off — following the trajectory of craft breweries. "Local distillery-inspired bars and restaurants not only offer a sense of place in an airport as a representation of the local community, but also allow us to create a platform to highlight and feature local products. It's a chance for us to champion a local business and help create awareness," Avolta Senior Vice President of Concept Development, Brand Partnerships, and Adult Beverage, North America, Tyler Pitman told Airport Experience News in its latest issue. Congratulations to HMSHost Senior Director of Operations Ian Wood and our team at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport for this wonderful recognition! We are proud to incorporate sustainability into our daily operations at Blanco Tacos & Tequila. The restaurant received a gold certification for demonstrating a commitment to community development in our food donation program to United Services Organization (USO) at PHX. The restaurant is also an active participant in the airport-wide food waste collection program that transforms food waste into nutrient-rich compost.
Today, Aviation Director Chad Makovsky kicked off the launch of the Green Business Partner Program and recognized three Phoenix Sky Harbor businesses and partners for their sustainable efforts that align with the Airport’s sustainability management plan.
