Eugene's library is a minor location in The Last of Us Part II. It is an unnamed library situated within Jackson County, close to the town of Jackson.[1]

History[]

Background[]

This unnamed library functioned as a typical library in the small town of Teton Village neighboring the town of Jackson until the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak in 2013 led to the townspeople abandoning the library to survive infected attacks. Years later, Eugene Linden discovered the library after joining the Jackson community with Tommy Miller, and turned it into a residence. He hooked up a generator to power the area, converted one of the areas into a bedroom, and also turned the basement into growroom for cultivating marijuana. He also collected pornographic films, which he kept in the basement, and set up a workbench for tinkering with various electronic devices. He possessed a pendant from his time as a Firefly and a letter from his wife, both of which remained in the library after his death.

In late 2037 or early 2038, Eugene died somewhere away from the library, leaving it abandoned.[1]

Events of The Last of Us Part II[]

In March 2038, Ellie and Dina stumbled on the library so they could shelter their horses, Shimmer and Japan, from a snowstorm. They discovered Eugene's belongings and surmised that he used to spend time there. After turning on the generator, they found Eugene's growroom hidden behind a bookcase. They later smoked marijuana and had sex in the basement before Jesse found them and informed them that Tommy and Joel Miller had gone missing. The trio then left the library on their horses.[1]
