The seventeenth instalment of Doctor Who? was printed in DWM 80 with a cover date of September 1983.

Summary[]

The Fifth Doctor discovers a shocking truth when he finds out what the inside of a Dalek contains.

Characters[]

Worldbuilding[]

  • The Doctor notes he can now find out what the inside of a Dalek contains in "living colour".
  • The Doctor knows the BBC are making cutbacks.
  • The Doctor finds a large bottle labelled "Ever Ready" in the casing in place of a Kaled mutant.

Notes[]

  • This story marked the first appearance of the Daleks in the Doctor Who? series, although as the Dalek featured is revealed to have no living creature operating it, this story only features the casing of a Dalek rather than constituting an appearance by the actual species. The next instalment in the series would feature both a living Dalek and its mutant.
  • This story also marked the second and final appearance of Turlough in the series.
  • This was the eighteenth Doctor Who? strip drawn by Dicky Howett.
