Discoveries was the fifth story in The History Tour series by Tim Quinn and Dicky Howett. The fifth part covered various developments in Earth's 16th century such as those by famous names like Christopher Columbus and Walter Raleigh.

  • According to the Doctor, it was said the Mary Rose was so finely balanced that even a pebble in the wrong place would prove catastrophic. The Doctor sinks the ship using this method with the excuse that it will be fun for the 20th century archaeologists to excavate it.
  • The Doctor allows Columbus to use the help of his TARDIS to pilot his ship to America but he arrives in Times Square but in the wrong time.
  • The Doctor considers Raleigh to be the greatest discoverer of them all time and lists the four geared bike and the potato as examples of his work.
  • Raleigh also brought a smoking pipe back to England but blew the smoke in Queen Elizabeth's face causing her to order his execution.
