The Sewers[]

[Joel hops over a barricade and follows Ellie to a broken end of the bridge; a cliff.]

Joel: Oh shit.

Ellie: Oh fuck!

Joel: [Pacing back.] How many bullets do you have left?

Ellie: They're gonna kill us!

Joel: What other choice do we have?

Ellie: [Points over bridge.] We jump.

Joel: No, it's too high and you can't swim. I'll boost you up; you run past 'em.

[The Humvee hits one of the trucks on the bridge, causing one of the cars to fall over the edge.]

Ellie: Oh shit. [To Joel.] You'll keep me afloat.

Joel: [Hesitating.] Ellie.

Ellie: No time to argue.

Joel: Ellie! [Ellie jumps off the bridge.]

Joel: Ah, damn it! [Jumps in after Ellie and screams.]

[Both submerge in the water and the current overpowers Joel and Ellie.]

Ellie: Joel! [Coughs.]

Joel: [Swims towards Ellie.] I got you! [Holds Ellie. Sees incoming rock.] No—no, no, no!

[Joel wraps himself around Ellie and is slammed into a rock. The screen goes black. Cut to Joel regaining consciousness, lying on a sandy beach. Ellie and Sam are standing over him. Henry is a short distance from them, holding his pistol.]

Sam: Henry! He's awake! [Runs to Henry.]

Ellie: Hey, you. We're alive. Okay. [Helps Joel up.]

Henry: [Laughs.] See? What'd I tell you, huh? He's good. Everything's fine. You know, Sam's the one who spotted you. You guy's had taken quite a bit of water, when-- [Joel pushes Henry to the floor, taking his gun.] What the fuck's wrong with you!?

Sam: [Scared.] Henry!

Joel: [Points gun at Sam.] Get back, son!

Henry: [Overlapping.] It's fine--HEY, hey, hey, hey... [Joel points the gun at him.] He's pissed, but he's not going to do anything.

Joel: [Steps closer.] You sure about that?

Sam: [Shouting.] Stop!

Ellie: [Rests hand on Joel's shoulder.] Joel.

Joel: He left us to die out there.

Henry: No. You had a good chance of making it, and you did. But coming back for you [Points to Sam.] meant putting him at risk. [To Sam.] Stay back. [Sam steps back.] If it was the other way around, would you have come back for us? I saved you.

Ellie: He saved me too. [Pauses.] We woulda' drowned.

[Hesitantly, Joel tosses the gun to the ground and walks away. Sam kneels at Henry's side and watches Joel.]

Henry: It's fine though. I'm okay. [Stands up and pauses. To Joel.] Y'know, for what it's worth, I'm really glad we spotted you. [Pauses.] Now that radio tower is on the other side of this cliff. Okay? Place is gonna be full of supplies. You're gonna be really happy you didn't kill me. [He walks away with Sam.] Hey, we're gonna search this area. See what we come up with.

Ellie: [To Joel.] That was intense. You cool?

Joel: Yeah. Let's go find that radio tower.

[They split off into two groups.]

Ellie: For a second there, I thought you might shoot him.

Joel: Yeah...almost did.

Ellie: They're all right. I think it's good to have 'em around.

Joel: I think you're right.

Sam: Um, do you trust him?

Henry: Yeah, I do. Hey, don't worry about it. We're fine now, okay?

Sam: Yeah.

Henry: You gotta believe me on this, Sam, all right?

Sam: Sure.

Ellie: Hey, [Gestures towards an abandoned boat.] maybe we can find something in that boat over there.

Henry: Keep your eyes peeled!

Joel: Way ahead of you, kid.

Ellie: Whoa.

Joel: What?

Ellie: First time on a boat.

Joel: Well, it's a little bit different in the water.

Ellie: One step at a time.

Sam: Hey, Ellie. I think we found something!

Ellie: Let's go see what it is.

[The group climb up to a large sewer grate in the side of the cliff.]

Henry: Hey, I bet this goes all the way through. Gimme a hand with this.

Joel: All right, same time. Come on.

Henry: Let's do it.

[Together, Joel and Henry lift the sewer grate open.]

Joel: All right, c'mon, kids, go.

Henry: All right. Here we go.

Joel: You go in.

Henry: Okay.

[Henry follows Ellie and Sam inside. He then holds the grate open so Joel can climb in too. Joel then carefully closes it.]

Henry: Hey, flashlights out. Sam, stay--

Sam: Stay close, I know.

Henry: Someone's finally learning.

Ellie: See anything?

Joel: Uh-huh. Gotta find a different way.

Ellie: Joel, we should see what's over here.

Joel: It's blocked.

[Joel finds a loose vent cap.]

Ellie: If you can get it open, I can crawl through and clear that door. [Joel pries the vent cap off, letting a rat scurry out into the water.] Oh, yeesh. That is a big rat. [Ellie climbs inside and proceeds to the other side of the door.] And...voila

[Ellie opens the door. Joel enters and scavenges supplies within.]

Ellie: Do you think they'll join us all the way to Tommy's?

Joel: Well, I don't know. We're just gonna have to see how everything pans out.

Henry: This way. Yeah, looks like there's a path up ahead. Right here.

[The group reach a flooded cistern.]

Sam: Can we get out this way?

Henry: Nah, there's no way to reach that.

Sam: Well, I can't swim.

Ellie: That makes two of us.

Henry: All right, Joel, how do we get across?

Joel: Guess we gotta figure somethin' out.

Henry: Hey, this thing's on some kinda track. Maybe there's a way we can use it. Hey, maybe this'll lead to somewhere.

Ellie: Look, a generator.

Henry: It's jammed!

[Joel jumps into the water and dives underneath to unclog the sluice. He then returns to the surface.]

Joel: Henry, give it a shot!

Henry: All right! Here we go. [Henry starts the system.] Yep -- it's working!

Joel: I'll go have a look. You keep an eye out.

Henry: Joel! You okay?

Joel: Yeah! Still in one piece.

[Joel returns with a pallet.]

Ellie: Oh -- this thing again.

Joel: Let's go Ellie.

[Ellie jumps onto the pallet and Joel swims her to the other side where the generator is.]

Henry: Oh, there you go. That's smart.

Ellie: Ahh, I can't wait to get outta this place.

Joel: All right, see if that generator's still got some juice.

Ellie: Here goes nothin'. [She climbs on to the walkway and starts the generator.] All right!

[Henry and Sam safely cross the water. Joel waits beneath as Henry approaches to pull him out.]

Sam: Huh. I can't believe that actually worked.

Henry: Yeah, don't jinx us.

[Henry pulls Joel up from the water.]

Henry: [To Joel and Ellie.] I gotta say, I'm impressed with you two.

Ellie: Pssh...we're pros at this by now.

[The group come to a door with childish drawings by the door.]

Ellie: Uh...what's up with this?

Sam: You think there's people inside?

Henry: Maybe.

Ellie: Are we really going in there?

[They open the door, but it sets off a trap that drops glass bottles.]

Joel: Oh shit.

Henry: Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Sam: It's a sound trap.

Ellie: A what?

Joel: It's a sort of alarm.

Ellie: I don't hear anything.

Joel: Someone used to live here. Don't look like that's the case anymore.

Sam: Who would stay in here?

Henry: Well, someone who thought they could keep a place like this safe.

Joel: Ugh.

[They reach a corner with a soccer net drawn on the wall.]

Ellie: Oh, awesome.

Joel: Ellie, don't--

Ellie: Ah, calm down. [She picks up a ball.] Sam, stand by those posts over there. Yeah.

Sam: Okay.

Ellie: Ready?

[Ellie kicks the ball. Sam catches it with both hands.]

Sam: Oh, Henry, did you see that?

Henry: Let's keep it down, buddy, okay?

Sam: Yeah. Sorry.

[Sam rolls the ball back in to the corner. The group press onwards to a gate.]

Ellie: You hear that? Infected.

Joel: Shh, shhh. Quiet.

[The group open and pass through the gate. Several runners and clickers charge at them from the next room.]

Henry: There's three more heading our way!

[They kill the infected.]

Ellie: Well, I guess we know what happened to these people.

Joel: Seeing as how there was a clicker, they must've been gone for awhile.

Henry: We keep moving forward. All we can do is hope that there aren't any more of 'em. Doubtful, I know.

[They come to a room with a balcony.]

Ellie: Hey. You think that leads out?

Henry: Could be. It's too high for a boost. Maybe there's another way to get there.

[Joel pushes open a door with drops another sound trap in front of him. Straight after, a large bang above it heard. Joel looks up to see a large metal barrier descend from above.]

Joel: Oh shit. Get back!

Ellie: What?

[The barrier lands, splitting the group up. Joel is with Sam while Henry and Ellie are left together.]

Henry: Sam!

Sam: Yeah, I'm cool.

Joel: That was me. I must've triggered some sort of safety gate or somethin'. Henry, see if we can lift this.

Ellie: So...this is awkward.

Sam: Yeah, I know. It's like every time--

Ellie: Clickers!

Joel: What?

Henry: Hey, this thing isn't budging, man.

Joel: Just go, get outta here.

Henry: Sam, you stay close to him.

Ellie: Henry, we gotta fucking move!

Henry: You keep him safe!

Joel: Go! Shh, shh, shh.

[Joel and Sam watch as Ellie and Henry free from a pack of clickers. Joel turns to Sam.]

Joel: We're gonna be fine.

Sam: Yeah, yeah I know.

Joel: All right, come on, kid. See if we can find a way outta here, yeah?

Sam: Okay.

[Joel walks forward to encounter several stalkers and clickers. With some assistance from Sam, Joel kills the infected.]

Sam: You did it.

Joel: We're gonna keep going. You good?

Sam: Yeah. I bet there were a lot of them here. People, I mean.

Joel: Looks like it.

[They venture further into the compound.]

Sam: Look at this place. It's like a classroom. Why couldn't they keep it safe?

Joel: Son, I wish I knew. God knows they didn't deserve it. [Sees a ladder on a ledge ahead.] You think you can knock that ladder down?

Sam: Yeah.

Joel: Go ahead.

[He boosts him up the ledge.]

Sam: There we go.

Joel: Good job, kid.

Ellie: Fucking thing!

Sam: Is that Ellie?

Joel: C'mon.

[Joel and Sam run through the corridor then jump down below into another section. Gunshots sound in the distance. Ellie and Henry race around the corner. A horde of infected soon follows.]

Sam: Joel, that's them.

Henry: Sam!

Ellie: Oh thank god. We gotta keep running.

Henry: Doorway -- over there! Sam!

Ellie: Run! There's too many of 'em!

[They flee into a new room, Joel forcing the door shut once through. The infected pound against it.]

Joel: Ellie! Get away from the door!

Henry: Maybe if we push it together.

[Sam crawls through a duct.]

Ellie: Sam! He just crawled through!

Henry: He what? Sam, what the hell are you doin'?

Sam: Getting us outta here!

Henry: Well, hurry up then!

[Sam unjams the door.]

Joel: All right, go.

Henry: Everyone, upstairs. Let's go!

[The group run upstairs to the higher levels, reaching a disused maintenance office where an emergency exit door outside is. The group reach the door but Henry is unable to open it..]

Henry: Damn thing's stuck!

Ellie: Gimme a boost! I can get through that window.

[Henry boosts Ellie over through the window.]

Henry: Open it from the other side.

Joel: Make it fast!

Henry: C'mon, Sam, you're not staying in here.

Sam: What about you?

Henry: I'll be fine. C'mon. Go.

[Henry boosts Sam out the door to safety.]

Joel: Get ready!

Henry: Fuck. Here we go!

[Henry and Joel fight against several infected. Eventually, Ellie calls out.]

Ellie: We got it!

Joel: All right, move! Let's go, let's go!

[Henry and Joel quickly slip outside and barricade the door again.]

Henry: Fresh air...

Joel: Oh...

[The group look up to see a graffiti warning on the exterior, warning of infected inside.]

Ellie: Wha--

Sam: Look at this.

Ellie: Oh, are you fucking kidding me? Thanks for the warning on the other side, guys.

The Suburbs[]

Joel: So, where's this tower?

Henry: We're close. C'mon, let's go. [They all start walking down towards the suburbs.] Hey. How you doin', little man?

Sam: That was a close one, huh?

Henry: Yeah. Not one of our finest moments, but we made it out.

Sam: Yeah.

[The military radio tower comes into view in the distance. Henry sees it.]

Henry: Hey, look at that. Yep, what'd I tell you, huh?

Joel: Let's find a way around to it. What about you, how you holdin' up?

Ellie: Business as usual, right? When I was with Henry, I took out a couple of infected by myself. You'd be proud.

Joel: Yeah.

[They walk into an abandoned house. Ellie and Sam sit on a couch.]

Sam: It was pretty intense back there, huh?

Ellie: Yeah. Totally.

Sam: How'd you two end up together?

Ellie: Oh...a friend of mine, Marlene, asked him to take me to the Fireflies.

Sam: You seem to get along well.

Ellie: Yeah, well...now I just boss him around. Isn't that right, Joel?

[They walk back onto the street, where several houses are vandalised with warnings and messages.]

Ellie: What was this place like without infected? Tsh...I can't even imagine it.

Sam: "Will shoot on sight." Lots of friendly people lived here.

Henry: First few months after the outbreak, they had a lot of lootin'. Everyone got paranoid. You remember any of that, Joel?

Joel: Everyone barricaded themselves in their homes, then supplies started running low. That's when you saw what people are really capable of.

Henry: I was just five when the cordyceps hit. My memory's pretty hazy, but I remember living in a neighborhood just like this.

Ellie: What do you remember?

Henry: Uhh...barbecues. Parents, they would throw these crazy big barbecues and invite a ton of people. You know, I remember the smell more than anything. Weird.

[Ellie spots two dogs down the road.]

Ellie: Oh. Doggies.

Joel: You're gonna want to stay away from those. It's not like it is in the zone. These are wild.

[They all proceed down the road, causing the dogs to run away. Ellie catches sight of an ice cream truck.]

Ellie: What is this?

Sam: Oh, this is an ice cream truck.

Ellie: An ice cream truck?

Sam: Yeah, Henry told me about these. They'd sell ice cream out of the truck.

Ellie: What? No way. Joel?

Joel: It's true. This thing would drive around and play real loud, creepy music and kids would come running out to buy ice cream.

Ellie: You're totally fucking with me.

Joel: Um-mmm. Serious.

Ellie: Man, you lived in a strange time.

Sam: Told you so.

Ellie: Agghh...is anybody else hungry?

Sam: Yes.

Henry: Hey guys -- we break when we get to the radio tower.

Sam: All right.

[The group enter another house. In the disused living room, Sam and Ellie find a dart board and a set of darts..]

Sam: Darts.

Ellie: Right.

Henry: Hey, Sam...be careful.

Sam: Yeah...okay. All right, I'll go first. [He throws the dart, hitting the board.] Damn it.

Ellie: Oh.

Sam: All right, your turn.

Ellie: Okay. Just throw it?

Sam: Yeah.

[Ellie throws the dart and also hits the board. Her score is higher than Sam's.]

Ellie: Boosh, I am a natural.

Sam: Luck.

Ellie: No it wasn't.

Sam: That was luck.

[Sam throws again, this time scoring better.]

Ellie: All right, get outta here. You're getting cocky. Here we go. [She throws but scores lower this time.] Fuck.

Sam: Horrible.

Ellie: All right...it's a tie.

Sam: No, no, you clearly got destroyed.

Ellie: How did I clearly get destroyed? That's practically a tie!

Sam: Yeah, okay.

[Sam and Ellie leave the room. Joel, spotting one dart remaining, picks it up. He throws but misses the board, hitting the wall. Frustrated, he walks away towards Henry.]

Henry: There'll come a day when kids can just be kids again.

Joel: Let's go.

[They leave outside the back of the house to find the far street blocked by debris. A Firefly symbol is on the wall nearby.]

Henry: Fireflies were here.

Joel: Yeah, by the looks of it.

Sam: How're we gonna find them?

Joel: I know a guy. My brother, actually. He was a Firefly. Last I heard he was in Wyoming. We get there, we find him. We find the Fireflies. Whaddya say, you in?

Henry: Sounds like a good plan, man.

Ellie: Ah, okay. You guys are killing me with your downer talk. [She takes out her pun book.] It's joke book time.

Sam: What is that?

Ellie: Just bear with me. "You wanna hear a joke about pizza? Never mind, it was too cheesy."

Sam: I don't get it.

Ellie: Yeah, me neither. "What did the green grape say to purple grape? Breathe, you idiot!"

Sam: That's so stupid. [Ellie puts her book away.] All right, I got a joke for you.

Ellie: Let's hear it.

Sam: Why can't your nose be twelve inches long?

Ellie: I don't know, why?

Sam: Because...then it would be a foot.

Ellie: That's so dumb. I love it.

[The group head towards the lower end of the suburbs, where the tower is just outside the town. Joel drops down first but but a sniper opens fire on him from the furthest house.]

Joel: Oh shit! [The other three drop down. Joel moves behind a car.] Get down.

[Henry, Sam and Ellie join Joel behind the car. Henry draws his pistol.]

Ellie: Oh shit...

Henry: Fuckin' sniper. [To Joel.] Did you see where it came from?

Joel: Somewhere down the street. All right now...y'all stay here.

Ellie: No.

Joel: Before you start -- I need you guys to keep him busy. I'm gonna go around and see if I can't get the angle on him.

Ellie: Okay. Hey. Be careful.

[Joel proceeds down the street, doing his best to avoid the sniper's fire.]

Sniper: Ah, there you are!

[The sniper shoots at Joel but he evades his shots.]

Sniper: I see you!

[Joel runs into one of the abandoned houses.]

Sniper: Hide in that house, see if that helps!

[Joel reaches the end of the street.]

Sniper: Get him boys!

[A group of hunters suddenly appear and attempt to attack Joel. Eventually, Joel kills them and breaches the sniper's house. He proceeds to the top floor and enters the sniper's nest. The sniper attacks Joel from behind the door, attempting to stab him. Joel blocks the blow then parries the man's knife from him. Joel knifes the sniper, then picks up the military sniper rifle to shoot at hunters coming from the top of the street, attempting to attack Henry, Sam and Ellie.]

Joel: Come on, guys... Oh, no, no, no.

[The armored humvee from Pittsburgh arrives at the top of the street, with more hunters with it.]

Hunter 1: It's those damn tourists from the city.

Joel: Come on, Henry.

Hunter 2: Thought you could get away from us, huh?

Hunter 1: We're back, motherfucker!

[The humvee approaches Henry, Sam and Ellie, throwing molotovs. Joel shoots the hunter just as he goes to throw another one, causing the interior to catch fire and the truck to crash into a house, exploding.]

Ellie: Shit! Oh, that was so intense!

Henry: You all right Sam?

Sam: Yeah, I'm okay.

Ellie: Thanks, Joel.

Henry: All right. We did it.

Ellie: We should move.

[A few infected swarm at them from the house, one tackling Sam to the ground.]

Sam: Henry!

Joel: Shit.

[Joel and Ellie shoot at the infected, killing them. Henry helps Sam to his feet.]

Henry: Sam, are you okay?

Sam: Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine.

Henry: You sure? You seem funny.

[Drawn by the humvee exploding, various infected cry out and charge down the street. Joel takes aim and shoots at the ones closing in on Henry, Ellie and Sam.]

Ellie: C'mon, c'mon.

Henry: Let's move!

Joel: Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up. [The trio make it into the house. Joel keeps shooting only to realise the mass of infected has increased to a whole horde.] Oh, no, no, no, no. Oh god...

[Joel abandons the rifle and runs down the stairs, reaching Ellie, Henry and Sam. Infected bang on the doors and windows.]

Ellie: [To Joel] You're okay.

Joel: Still here. Anybody hurt?

Sam: Uh-uh.

Henry: [Shaking his head.] No, we're good.

Joel: [Backing up.] All right. I think it's time we quit this place. C'mon.

Henry: [To Sam.] Let's go.

[The party reaches the yard and sneaks through a picket fence. The camera pans to the radio tower in the distance. Cut to opened canned goods on the floor of an old house.]

Henry: [Chuckles.] Shut the hell up.

Joel: Dead serious. [Eats a spoonful.] It was Tommy's birthday. That's all he wanted to do is to just—rent two Harley's and drive cross country.

Henry: [Sits up.] Ah, man. I could die happy if I could just ride one around the block. [Chuckles.] What was it like?

Joel: It was good. Real good [Sets the can down.]

Henry: Good? [Looks at Ellie.] Can you believe this guy? C'mon man, gimme details. Describe it.

Joel: [Laughs.]

Ellie: You know what? You two deserve a little privacy. [Stands up.]

Henry: No, no, Ellie, Ellie, this isn't just any regular motorcycle. Okay? You get on that bad boy, you feel that engine. Nothing like it.

Ellie: Oh yeah? How would you know?

Henry: I've seen it in my dreams... [Sits up and pretends he's riding a motorbike.] Vroom, vroom, vroom...[Laughs.]

Ellie: Okay... [Walks off.]

[As Ellie exits, an awkward moment of silence lingers in the room between Joel and Henry.]

Henry: I don't think anyone from our group is gonna show up.

Joel: [Somberly.] Yeah.

Henry: Worst part of it all—explaining it to Sam.

[Cut to a separate room with Sam.]

Ellie: [Enters.] Well, it's safe to say those two have officially bonded. [Walks closer.] What're you doin'?

Sam: Taking stock of all the food we found today.

Ellie: I see... [Grabs can and reads.] And how are we doing on canned peaches?

Sam: [Grabs can from her.] Did Henry send you?

Ellie: No. Why would Henry send me?

Sam: To make sure I'm not fucking up somehow.

Ellie: Pshhh. I'd say we all did pretty good back there—especially you.

[Sam gets up out of his chair and walks to the window.]

Ellie: Is everything all right?

Sam: [Somberly.] Everything's fine.

Ellie: [Pauses.] Okay... [Walks off.] Well... have a good night.

Sam: [Turns around.] How is it that you're never scared?

Ellie: Who says that I'm not?

Sam: What are you scared of?

Ellie: Let's see... [Playfully.] Scorpions are pretty creepy.

[Sam returns to looking out the window.]

Ellie: Um... being by myself. [Sam looks at Ellie.] I'm scared of ending up alone. What about you?

Sam: Those things out there. [Pauses.] What if the people are still inside? What if they're trapped in there without any control of their body? I'm scared of that happening to me.

Ellie: [Confidently.] Okay, first of all, we're a team now. We're gonna help each other out. And second, they might still look like people, but that person is not in there anymore.

Sam: Henry says that, "They've moved on." They they're with their families. Like in heaven. Do you think that's true?

Ellie: I go back and forth. I mean, I'd like to believe it.

Sam: But you don't.

Ellie: I guess not.

Sam: Yeah... me neither [Turns back around.]

Ellie: Oh... [Takes off backpack.] all this serious talk, I almost forgot. [Pulls out toy and puts it on desk.] There. If he doesn't know about it, he can't take it away. [Puts on backpack and walks to the door.] All right, I'm pooped. I'll see you tomorrow.

[Ellie exits the room. Sam walks to the toy, picking it up. After looking at it, he throws it at the floor. He sits back in his chair and rolls up the bottom of his pants, revealing a bite. Cut to Ellie sleeping. It is morning. Joel is standing by the window and Henry is stirring a pot on a stove.]

Ellie: [Wakes up. Sniffs then yawns.] Damn. That smells good.

Joel: [to Ellie.] Good morning.

Ellie: Where's Sam?

Henry: I let him sleep in for once.

Ellie: Oh.

Henry: Well if you want him to join us, you can go wake his ass up.

Ellie: Okay. [Walks into Sam's room.] Sam?

[Ellie opens the door and sees Sam twitching erratically from behind.]

Ellie: [Off-screen.] Sam!

Joel: What the hell?

[Ellie is pushed out of the room and knocked to the floor with Sam on top of her. He grunts and claws at her, trying to attack her. Henry backs against the wall, gun in hand.]

Joel: Shit. He's turnin'! [Grabs gun from bag.]

[Henry fires a shot in Joel's direction. Joel falls back.]

Henry: That's my fuckin' brother!

Ellie: Sam!

Joel: Screw it! [Crawls for his gun.]

[Henry fires his gun and shoots Sam. Ellie pushes Sam off her and crawls away as he dies.]

Ellie: Oh, shit...

Joel: [Approaches Ellie.] Ellie? Ellie, are you all right?

Ellie: Uh-huh [Panicked.] Oh my god.

Henry: Sam?

Ellie: Oh no...

Henry: [Crying.] Sam...

Joel: [Trying to console Henry.] Henry. Ellie, stay there. Henry.

Henry: Henry, what have you done?

Joel: [Inches slowly.] I'm gonna get that gun from you, okay?

Henry: Sa...Sa...Sam [Points gun at Joel.]

Joel: [Stops advancing. Puts his hands up.] Whoa. Okay, okay, easy.

Henry: It's your fault.

Joel: This is nobody's fault, Henry.

Henry: It's all your fault!

Joel: Henry! Henry, no—

[Henry puts the gun to his head and shoots himself.]

Ellie: Oh my god.

[The screen cuts to black as music swells in. The title card "Fall" appears on-screen. End cinematic.]
