The False Face Society[1] was a criminal organization led by Black Mask that operated in Gotham City.
History[]
Roman Sionis established the False Case Society by recruiting petty criminals and integrating other crime groups to amass one big criminal empire. At some point earlier within its creation, they allied themselves with the Galante Crime Family to massacre the Bertinelli Crime Family and obtain the Bertinelli Diamond, which could be used to further fund Sionis' criminal empire and rise to power in Gotham.
At some point after, Sionis and his organization developed a rivalry with the Joker's Gang. However, Sionis was too fearful to stand against the Joker or his right-hand woman/girlfriend Harley Quinn despite the annoying grievances she caused for him.
Years after the Bertinelli Massacre, the sole survivor Helena Bertinelli became known as Huntress and sought out to kill her family's killers and soon discovered that Sionis and his criminal organization were in league with her family's killers.[2] Therefore, while tracking down and killing the members of the Galante Crime Family, she tracked down and killed several criminals affiliated with Sionis, including Carlo Rossi and Happy before joining Harley, Renee Montoya, and Dinah Lance to protect a young pickpocket named Cassandra Cain, who came into possession of the Bertinelli Diamond and became a target of Sionis.
After Helena killed Victor Zsasz - the last of her family's killers, Sionis arrived with all of his henchmen and ordered them to kill the Birds of Prey and capture Cassandra alive, telling them that whoever could would receive half a million dollars in return. Many of Sionis' henchmen were killed in the fight or knocked unconscious by Dinah's supersonic scream. With the rest of Sionis' henchmen taken out during a car chase, Harley confronted Sionis at a pier and he was finally killed when Cassandra secretly stored an active grenade in Sionis' jacket, resulting in him being blasted to bits while falling into the pier. In the aftermath of Sionis' death, his criminal organization was dismantled.[2]

- In the DC Comics, Black Mask founded a large gang called the False Facers, or the False Face Society, an organization of criminals that are required to select a mask from Black Mask's collection and wear it at all times, like when on the job and in his presence.
