Bleach Wiki

This is the page where formal requests for administratorship are recorded and archived. An explanation of what sysop rights are can be found below the list of admins at Bleach Wiki:Administrators.

We are currently looking for more admins. If you so wish, you may make a request to be considered for an adminship position below. Please do not make a request unless you truly believe that you meet the following requirements.

Requirements

There are no concrete requirements for a user to be an admin. However, admins will usually consider those that:

  • Have been contributing to the Bleach Wiki for a considerable period of time and are regularly on the wiki;
  • Have a very strong history of contributions (particularly in the content namespace), though quality is more important than quantity;
  • Assist current users with questions, whether on user talk pages, in the forums or on article talk pages;
  • Be trusted by the current administrators.
  • Have no history of serious blocks due to vandalism or harassment;
  • Vigilant in stopping vandalism and keeping speculation off the article pages;
  • Enforce all of our official policies fairly.

Procedure

  • If you think you met the requirements, add your name as a subheading under the section "Current Requests" and give an explanation (no more than several lines) as to why you deserve and require admin rights. Please sign your posts.
  • After the active admin have reviewed the qualifications of the prospective candidate, they will post a response as to their decision and put them up for community vote.
  • If confirmed, the person will be elevated in status. If not confirmed, do not be discouraged: keep up the good work of maintaining the wiki; and try again at a later time.

Current Requests

This has been on my mind for a couple of weeks since a car accident by some random person knocked out my internet access and I was unable to deal with some issues that arose during those days. That made me think about how I am the sole active admin, and it is obviously not an option for me to be avaiable for blocking duties 24/7. Other admin rights are largely covered in the content moderator role so no worries about page protections etc, but stopping a runaway vandal/spammer is an issue than should not always be left to the SOAP team if Im not online. They have enough work to do. Also, the wiki has become busier once again and with the anime returning will be even more so and the UCP changes possibly throwing up more issues that require MediaWiki editing rights. So in that light, I encourage editors to put themselves forward for the role of admin and all suitable candidates (see requirements above) will be put to community vote next week. As far as I am concered, all active members of the P&S Committee meet the requirements and I would prefer more than one new admin as I may retire altogether at some point in the next year. But if you are not interested that is okay, I dont want to make anyone do it if theyre not! ~~Ууp <talk> 19:27, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Alright, here goes, with the new Discussions being separated and such, there's a lot more traffic and such. I know the pandemic has wiped me productivity-wise compared to the last few years but still always keeping an eye on moderating things and such and trying new things with the Discord. I don't think we really foreseen that other than the Novels things would pick up and its great to see people eager to learn again. I think my record on how much I love this place, speaks for itself, twelve years later but hope not stepping on toes or offending anyone. SunXia (Chat) 20:56,12/5/2020
I'll put myself forward too as the guy who spends too much of his time keeping an eye on the RC anyway. I was content with just the page protection and image renaming rights upgrades last year, but between the influx of new users, the addition of Discussions and all the code fixes needed with the sudden UCP rollout we definitely need more admins around, and I'd like to help (seeing as how my editing project is on hold until FANDOM makes that kind of editing possible again).--Xilinoc (talk) 21:15, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Thank you both. Ill put an announcement up about voting on it now. If anyone else wishes to put themselves forward please do so before the end of the week. ~~Ууp <talk> 21:07, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

SunXia

  1. 180px-Symbol support vote.svg Support - In short, unquestionably dedicated, knowledgable on Bleach, wiki policy and local issues. Europe based so complements Xil well when it comes to being available to deal with problem users at any hour of the day. Willing to help people and to hear people out but knows when to draw line under an issue. ~~Ууp <talk> 21:07, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
  2. 180px-Symbol support vote.svg Support - for both: Honestly, this is a freakin' no-brainer. These two have put in more than the lion's share of the work in the years since the manga ended, and moreso since the return announcement in March. Especially with Sal only occasionally popping in on Discord and Arran off in God-knows-what alternate dimension, I can't think of anyone better to get administrator powers. 3. 180px-Symbol support vote.svg Support - For both as well. Honestly, both SunXia and Xilinoc are some of the most competent and professional wiki moderators I've seen across several sites. I think they do great work and can do even better work as admins; and I'll be happy to keep supporting them as moderator however I can. Timjer (talk) 10:28, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
  4. 180px-Symbol support vote.svg Support - OKAY, now that I have the editor working finally I can put in my support for both. They've basically been admins in everything but name for a while now and they're more than deserving of making it official. FutureEeveeKing13 (talk) 21:56, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

Xilinoc

  1. 180px-Symbol support vote.svg Support - In short, unquestionably dedicated, knowledgable on Bleach, wiki policy and local issues. American based and therefore complements Sun & me well in being available to deal with problem users at any time of the day, but he often seems to be on 24hrs a day so that might be a moot point. Willing to help people and to hear people out but knows when to draw line under an issue. ~~Ууp <talk> 21:07, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
  2. 180px-Symbol support vote.svg Support - For reasons stated above KenjiSchiffyTalk to meView my work07:15,12/9/2020 UTC
  3. 180px-Symbol support vote.svg Support - Also for reasons stated above. Timjer (talk) 10:28, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
  4. 180px-Symbol support vote.svg Support - Same as above. FutureEeveeKing13 (talk) 21:56, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
