Absence[]
Hey Timjer, hope you're doing well. You've probably noticed that I've been pretty inactive aside from sporadic edits for the past 2 months or so, and I wanted to explain why that is. Haven't abandoned the wiki or anything like that (my dang summary project's not even halfway done!) - rather, I've been driving myself completely insane writing up these guides for Bleach: Soul Resurrección ahead of the anime's return, under the assumption that people might want to play it with the renewed interest in the series and as a way to promote the wiki itself for interested readers (primarily in the second one). It took me many, many, many hours but I'm finally done with all that and ready to pick up where I left off here; this is mainly to let you know that I'm once again fully available for anything you need help with, images/corrections/grammar/etc. Just say the word. Zangetsu profile pic arguments[]
So I like the current image I don't feel it needs to be changed but I mentioned Ukitake because it wouldn't hurt to have his manga appearance in the appearance section instead of replacing his profile image as an alternative. It makes it appear more professional I looked at other fandom sites at how they basically do this. Hey, I did figure that since they looked to be character-centric covers for the Espada rather than random ones, so I totally get it - I just want to ensure some viewing consistency, hence the revert reason for that first one. But as for your other uploads, you're totally in the clear and in fact encouraged there, haha - I was wondering if you'd ever come across the colored manga yourself on some scan site or another to start replacing the anime images that didn't quite do the manga justice yourself, and you clearly have, which you're more than welcome to do for the sake of improving the quality of the wiki since my project/editing is currently on a sort of downturn.
See, I realized after I finished volume 32 that, while I hadn't hit absolutely everything on the wiki as I'd naively hoped to do before the anime finally came back, I had fixed up and/or brought up to par the section(s) of the wiki that needed it most: basically, everything covered by episodes 1-167 of the anime leading up to and including Grimmjow's defeat, as that chapter is around when the wiki was founded, such that everything that came out after it got plenty of attention and detail on pages as chapters/episodes released weekly while everything that came before kinda languished with only partial work being done in a scattershot manner across the years, especially when it came to stuff like Ichigo Kurosaki vs. Grand Fisher where we just used censored and inaccurate anime images/scenes in place of the canon content and no one noticed.
So now that I've covered all that (particularly the Bount arc, which was the only of the four filler arcs to remain horrendously outdated presentation- and content-wise) and know that I've done work on basically everything that follows it, even if not always to the level of a complete overhaul, I'm not quite as on the ball and sprinting toward the finish line when it comes to my summary project; I'm not stopping by any means and in fact have the first episode of the Amagai arc all re-written up with images ready to go (just waiting for a good time to publish that), but I'm definitely slowing down my output due to a combination of both that motivation change and my new job tiring me out/giving me a lot less free time than I had during the pandemic...which also means the remainder of the Arrancar arc stuff that you've been working on image updates/replacements for won't be hit by me anytime soon. As such, this is a long-winded way of saying you have my full blessing to go about replacing those black-and-white images of pivotal moments with colored ones as you see fit, though I'd still suggest leaving the covers alone for now, because they definitely work better for the articles than anime stills do 99% of the time and I fully trust you to make the right calls on what should go where, what colors and aspect ratios work best, etc. etc. And I fully appreciate you offering to lighten the load for me, because I sure don't get paid enough (or at all) by FANDOM to do every single thing on my own. - Yeah, I learned that from going alllllllllll the way back to the original version of Nnoitra's page (Christ, we've come a long way since then), where the latest info was from around what would later be put in volume 33, and when I did the disparity of info/quality on certain article totally clicked into place, haha. But that's finally settled to the point where, short of those Japan-only games that we've historically struggled to get info on, a reader can go to just about any page on this wiki and be properly informed by it now, which I feel is a good enough midpoint to hit.
- And don't worry, I've got no intention of leaving you guys anytime soon, especially not in or around October - in fact, I'm gonna see if I can get a day off moved to Tuesday or whatever the airdate of the new episodes is specifically to help tackle each one on release date - it's just that my output is gonna slow down as I balance editing with work, other hobbies, and all that other "real life" stuff. Game plan going forward[]
Hey there. So I realized in hindsight that my editing behavior this morning/afternoon probably seemed kinda weird without context, since I didn't really explain what I was doing to anyone in advance, so I wanted to lay it out for you since you're a fellow mod and the most active/prolific contributor after me and will thus be in the trenches alongside me on these hallowed Bleach Mondays.
Basically, here's my game plan:
- Whenever we make a new episode page, lock/protect it immediately. This is done so that, leading up to and on the day of the episode premiere, we don't have 50 different people all trying to edit over each other to add a single detail at a time.
- When the newest episode premieres, I'm gonna fill out all the sections at once. I'll probably miss a few details and am open to correction on stuff after the fact (as demonstrated today with Chojiro's Bankai), but this is me ensuring everything on there is well-written, detailed, accurate, and filled-out as possible. During this time, if you want to upload images (assuming D+ doesn't continue to screw up for international viewers for all subsequent episodes), you're more than welcome to and I'll happily use pertinent ones in the summary.
- Then, and only then, we unlock the page and make editing it accessible to everyone. I'll be at work for 9 hours after this point and will do anything remaining when I get home as best I can, but I have full confidence you can moderate and improve pages during the slew of editing that's sure to follow.
Normally I wouldn't lay out such restrictive measures (we certainly didn't/don't for new chapters), but given the sheer hype and activity surrounding the anime's return and all the new people it's gonna be bringing here, I figured it's better to be safe than sorry - the last thing we need is a cubic buttload of edit conflicts when we're just trying to fill out summaries. It never occurred to me, but I don't think it was ever set in stone as a policy - just how the first quote was put up and then what all subsequent ones followed the example of. I do like having the wider template be at the top of the page to "encompass" it, however, and doing some tests on Jin Kariya's page (since it also has one of the canon notices), I found that it helps visually to have a buffer zone between those two templates and the actual opening paragraph + the character template on the right side, since flipping it around kinda crams it all together. Timjer, I didn't mean to. I simply already used a pre-existing reference when making the edit. Since I didn't go into source editor [only used Visual], I assumed the previous editor for that already styled in the system correctly, but it appears it not the case. As you seen in Las Noches I followed just like you described for referencing. Please don't take it the wrong way. Let me make a proposal, is Hiyori Sarugaki article in the Article Improvement Unit? Quick question, since we are going the route of making a sub section for anime only content for characters (something I STRONGLY support!), doesn't that make the (anime only) additions to the sections of the filler arcs redundant and pointless? Well, it looks like she's on track to upload a GIF of it in the next few days, so I don't know that that's necessary...and please don't take this as a chastisement because I know you have good intentions, but going forward I don't think we need to have an image gallery discussion for every single technique adapted in the anime. If it's been historically misrepresented somehow, like Getsuga Tenshō, then sure, but what we got in this most recent episode were 5 techniques adapted pretty darn fully and faithfully from the manga - in such cases, we can just change the main image on the page to the anime equivalent, then change it to the GIF once Sun uploads that, no discussion needed, since both are automatic upgrades from the last. The Image Gallery page is mainly for character page profile images, so unless we get another Getsuga Tenshō situation or need to redo the site background yet again I'd prefer we stick to that. Expanded Universe for Zangetsu (Quincy powers)[]
Hello Timjer. While going through the articles, I think it may be best if we create a Expanded Universe tab for Quincy Zangetsu. Reason I'm pitching this idea is that for his Shinigami Powers section, we're still using info from the Zanpakuto filler arc. All that should be placed in the Expanded tab and we replace the main page with feats from the manga. And of course, place a image of Tensa Zangetsu for his Bankai appearance. No problem, hope I didn't come off too harsh there - I meant it more as a humorously chastising thing, since I know what you were going for and the info/logic is accurate. But going forward, for "reading between the lines" additions like that (as few or plentiful as they may be), we do need to provide some sort of grounded, exact reference point prior to whatever elaboration we add; luckily in this case, Chōjirō having a Zanpakutō and Bankai 2000 years ago worked on both pages. It doesn't need to be an all-encompassing reference point (since there's no one page/chapter that envelops all the information here), but something that hits the core of the idea is ideal.--Xilinoc (talk) 07:00, 28 November 2022 (UTC)

Relationships, Potential New Section[]
I was browsing through the wiki and noticed that in the Jin Kariya section. It is meshed with the personality section of the page. I also noticed the lack of relationship section for many of the characters page as well.

I was actually gonna do that in the initial upload spree...but I compared the frame where he pulled it out to the manga panel, and it's actually less detailed in the anime; the Wandenreich emblem on the side isn't exposed, and you can't see the two dozen wires connected to the back that're supporting/feeding it ammo. Wrong wording on Quincy technique: Letzter Stil[]
It would be nice if you didn't re-apply the false name "Letzt Stil" - This name was introduced into the western community by fan-translators who misunderstood the actual German term of this technique. Similar to the previous incident, where fandom translators used the wrong words "Voll Stern Dich" for the Quincy "Vollständig"("complete") power. The factual name of this attack in correct German is "Letzter Stil" which translates to the "last style".

- I saw the trivia for Senjumaru. That's partially why I asked. It saw it's there in trivia but missing on the RG page, then went to check the RG page's history and saw you reverting someone else adding Klub info to it. When I was given the answer to my question awhile back (before the TYBW anime arc was released), you told me that Giselle was biologically male, but identified as female. Giselle's being transgender is news to me, and I was hoping to get some more info on it, or rather, where to look to find that news. Thank you for all that you do for the wiki.

I know you crossed out the section, but I'm still going to respond to it because I think it's worth answering. I've seen the increasing backlash against us on Reddit too, and I'll admit it's gotten to me sometimes (particularly when I've seen people hoping that we kill ourselves over this light novel information being added to the anime), but if you want to know how I deal with it? Spite, pure and simple. I work on the wiki for the love of the franchise, but I maintain its level of quality and stick by the rules because I refuse to cede an inch to all the people who've come here without the intention to put in an ounce of work and instead shout at us like a slavedriver to get things done the exact way THEY want it done. Once you work on a volunteer project like this long enough, you realize that people unwilling to actually roll up their sleeves and put in the hours on something like this - to say nothing of those who resort to insults and threats the second they don't get their way - simply aren't worth listening to and are really just too pathetic to take seriously, but also get increasingly mad the more you don't cater to them and instead just keep doing what you were doing in terms of work on the articles...and while most of my motivation for working on here is just to make the wiki the best and most accurate it can be, I'd be lying if I said a small portion of it didn't come from pissing off people who deserve to be pissed off.
Everyone who screams and whines about us on Reddit is either one of the bigoted jackasses we purged from the wiki in 2019, a Narita fanatic who would rather see this place burned to the ground than up and running without mentioning the Japanese Zack Snyder in every single sentence, or someone who blindly believes what they're saying about us because all moderators, on all platforms, are inherently bad and stupid and thus deserve to be rebelled against on principle. Once you deal with that for 5+ years, it largely becomes background noise. Keep doing what you're doing, and the readers who actually matter (i.e. the majority) will be grateful for it.
And no problem re: Discussions - in fact, I'm sorry I didn't start paying attention sooner, but Future told me it's just become a cesspool recently (what with the multiple users publicly abandoning it because of the abuse they're enduring) and is likely to get exponentially worse around the time that the Marching Out the ZOMBIES episode goes live, so it's only fair that I finally step in and help keep it clean. Will be deleting all powerscaling, WWW, obviously lopsided poll, low-effort meme, shipping, and edit complaint posts on sight, along with doing the same and permabanning the authors of bigotry, harassment, and spam. Is there a talk page for Oetsu. I want to bring up a topic about him be promoted to Shunpo Master like his fellow members of the Royal Guard. Oetsu quickly overwhelmed Yhwach’s elite sternritter with extreme speed and quickness; he easily blitzed Pernida before it could react, casually blocked multiple bullets from Lille’s X-axis power that pierces through anything or anyone caught in between its line of sight and proceeds to slash him across the chest, defeated Gerard in one attack after he easily dodges his attack, and moved so fast that Askin didn’t know what happened until after Oetsu slashed his throat.(MasterCTP1 (talk) 22:24, 24 August 2023 (UTC))
Shinji’s Weight[]
The picture is actually on this wiki. It’s on the Bleach: Official Character Book 2 MASKED page. Shinji is actually the cover character for this databook. Under the Sample of Content section there is a picture labeled (Details of the Gotei 13 in Turn Back the Pendulum) it has all the heights and weight for the captains and vice-captain from turn back the pendulum. Late Summaries[]
Hey man, something you should know about: going forward, I'm not going to be writing up the summaries and notes for each new episode until the Wednesday after it airs. Why? Well, Saturday and Wednesday are my days off from work, so it's optimal to do it on one of those...but even though I was forcing myself to do it on Saturdays/Sundays for the past 21 episodes, I can't anymore. It feels too stressful to do it when everyone's clamoring to add new stuff to the wiki, I'm sick of waking up at 7:30 AM when I normally sleep till 10 AM, and it so happens that my partner's days off from work are Tuesday and Saturday, so when I do this on Saturdays I basically spend half of our one full day a week together away from her, and that's not sustainable.
I hope that doesn't come off like a rant aimed at you, because it's in no way anything you forced me to do; but I'm realizing it's an unrealistic threshold I'm setting myself to clear every week, and I want to endure as little crunch (especially the self-inflicted variety) in my life as possible. What that means for the episode pages and images? Well, I'll leave it up to you if you want to keep the episode pages locked or unlocked for those 4 interim days (lack of information added vs. people fighting over what to add, the eternal struggle), but I'm sure others like Edanakas will get the important images up in the meantime, and I'm happy to focus on cleanup and overhauling on those Wednesdays. Ah, you're right. Lucky I asked, knowing me I'd have probably skipped through the episodes over and over trying to find it. Now if only I could see the Japanese subs to confirm the kanji. Given the Bankai's, I'd assume it's the "刺絡" part. I'm just wondering because, while the reading indicated in the Bankai name is "Shigarami", that's actually how you'd read "柵". I don't see anything wrong with the pictures I added. That you deleted those pictures makes even less sense when some character pages do have pictures from their youth in their infobox, while others don't. For example Uryu already had his child picture in his infobox, so why did you remove my picure of child Ichigo but not Uryu's? NeoTr0x (talk)

Plus I'm pretty sure you never even bothered specifying it was from Bleach JET, making it look like fanart. Next time, try NOT to ignore the HUGE warning label when on the upload page..."

In both galleries, I wrote "Official artwork of Ichika and Kazui from Bleach JET." to describe the image in question within the galleries. If you mean I had to put that info in the image description while uploading it, I didn't, so that was another mistake I made. But the point is, at least I described where it came from somewhere. Furthermore, if I were to re-upload the image as a PNG and did put a FUR, I wouldn't be able to put it in the galleries again because Xilinoc protected the gallery pages so that only "Captains" can edit them indefinitely. Huh, not what I was expecting. Well, since we're treating the anime additions/changes to the canon material as "first-party" canon because of Kubo's heavy involvement, I don't see a reason not to do the same here - by the sound of it, it's like a miniature anime databook, a la Bleach: Official Animation Book VIBEs, and since we used the info on Zofiel from the art exhibition, this stuff sounds like fair game to me. - To be fair to Yamamoto, he was heavily injured beforehand. I rewatched the scene and you are right.
