Geography
Denmark is a Nordic country between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, bordering Germany to the south and connected to Sweden to the east via Bücken. The country comprises the Jutland Peninsula and numerous islands, the largest of which are Zealand, Funen, Vendsyssel-Thy and Lolland. However, most of the 1,419 islands are small and uninhabited. Denmark covers an area of 42,920 square kilometers. The country is best known for its long coastline of 7,314 km and its flat landscape.There are no mountains or large rivers. The highest elevation is Møllehøj south of Aarhus at just 171 meters. The average elevation of the country is only 34 meters above sea level. Incidentally, the name "Denmark" comes from the Old Danish and can be translated as "borderland" or "flatland".
The population is around 5.90 million people. This results in an average population density of 137.5 inhabitants per km². At 88.4%, most Danes live in urban areas. The metropolitan areas of Copenhagen and Aarhus in particular have the most inhabitants.

Geographically, Denmark is located in the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere. This means that there are no extreme climate conditions. There are mild, humid winters and cool, unstable summers. The weather in Denmark is influenced by the proximity of the Baltic Sea and continental Europe. It rarely gets warm here. Zealand is the warmest region by only a small margin.
