Project S.T.A.R.F.I.R.E. or LX-DG20, is one of Lex Luthor's many weapons created as an energy storage device that replicates the blue light abilities of Starfire as a way to combat Brother Blood and Trigon.

History[]

Lex began working on the device some years before Season 4 after meeting and uncovering May Bennett's true intentions as she masqueraded as an archaeologist. In order to create it he had Kory followed and gradually build up a substantial amount of information regarding her power and the history of Tamaran against Trigon.[1]

After his death, Lex left the device along with his many other weapons at a secret location, the coordinates of which were later decrypted by his son Conner and the Titans. The device was functional, but required energy to trigger it. Conner regrouped with the Titans and helped stabilize the device while Kory charged it. Under the pressure of Kory's power the device almost killed both her and Conner, before Dick Grayson cut power to the facility in order to save them. As a consequence, the device was not charged up to 100%. This proved dire as when Conner used the device to attempt to kill Sebastian, the insubstantial power inside was instead absorbed and Sebastian was unharmed.[1]

Specifications[]

The weapon appears as a large, soccer ball sized sphere with hexagonal plates across its entire surface area. The device comes apart in two pieces that connect together in perfect alignment.

According to Conner, the weapon is shaped as a sphere and the shell is nested, perfectly aligned to the nanometer. It has kinetic shielding, and each facet of the sphere has a micro array for energy absorption and store the energy across the whole sphere.
