Gongsun Li (Chinese:公孙离; Japanese:コウソンリ) is a free DLC Guest Character from Tencent's Honor of Kings. She has been available to download in Samurai Shodown (2019) since August 5th, 2020.[1] Her offical nickname is "Dancer From a Faraway Land" (異国の舞姫).

To reasons unknown to anyone but herself, a dancer from a faraway land makes her voyage to Japan.
It is said her performance has the power to entrance and uplift the masses.
But few suspect her actual motives, which are to gather evidence against those who’s misdeeds towards the public have been kept a secret.
To the dancer, allowing ones to steal away others’ happiness is a grave sin, and she will stop at nothing for the betterment of the people.
Appearance[]
Gongsun Li is a tall, slim woman with brown eyes and a fair skin complexion. She has long, white-beige hair extended to her waist and faded into pink. She has white rabbit ears.
Her outfit consists of a gold-lined red cropped bodice with the backside ending in a long dovetail, where a large yellow ribbon ties. A long-sleeve shrug cardigan with flared cuffs covers her arm and shoulders. She also wears low-rise, split hem, flared leggings with ripped openings at thigh-high, accented with maple motifs. In her hands is a yellow and red umbrella decorated at the tip with a glass-like ornament embellished with maple leaves.
In addition, she wears two maple-shaped hairpins, a black choker, and a pair of gravity wedges attached with white pom-poms.
Powers[]
- Teleportation - Gongsun Li can disappear in an aura of light and reappear in another location, depending on where she throws her umbrella.
- Enhanced Agility - Gongsun Li's moves are enhanced after deploying her umbrella.
- Aerokinesis - Gongsun Li can create and control wind.
- Aerial Control - Gongsun Li' has the ability to temporarily stay airborne and control her movements in the air. This allows her to float, glide, change directions in mid-air or gain temporary flight.
- Wind Manipulation - Gongsun Li can create a maple hurricane against her opponents.
- Pyrokinesis - Gongsun Li can create and control fire
- Fire Projectile - Gongsun Li can launch fire projectiles against her opponents.
- Explosive Projectile - Gongsun Li can launch explosive projectiles against her opponents.
Fighting style[]
Gongsun Li's fighting style is elegant, with a beautiful dance-like flow. Unlike most of the cast in Samurai Shodown, she would often fight without her weapon - the umbrella Yi Nian Dan Feng. The umbrella is the destination of her teleportation ability, which gives Gongsun a great zoning playstyle. Gongsun Li can also temporarily airborne in any direction at her convenience, emphasizing her agile gameplay. When she deploys her umbrella, she intentionally disarms herself, which makes her immune to disarm attacks from her opponents. In this state, her projectiles have faster flight speeds, and all her attacks gain quicker startup and recovery.

Trivia[]
- Unlike the other characters of Samurai Shodown (2019), Gongsun Li is the only character who can execute her Special Move without her weapon. Though, she needs her umbrella to execute her Weapon Flipping and Lightning Blade like other characters. To execute her Special, her umbrella needs to be floating, and can't be on the floor.
- Also, unlike the other characters of the game, she and Baiken are not cut in half when the function "Blood and Dismemberment" is active.
- In her Fateful Battle Rival in SamSho 2019 Story Mode, which is against Nakoruru, it is explicit that Gongsun Li knows the Ainu priestess. This, possibly, is due to the cross-over participation of SNK character in Honor of Kings, the dancer's source game series.
- The three characters seen on SNK's promotion screenshots with Gongsun Li, Nakoruru, Haohmaru, and Ukyo Tachibana, are all available champions in Honor of Kings.
- Also in her win quote vs. Ukyo, it is explicit the participation of the SNK character, with the dancer "feeling as though I've met he somewhere before...?"
