The Fallout 76 soundtrack is comprised of two main elements:

  • The ambient soundtrack composed by Inon Zur.
  • Songs and other musical works which are played by the various radio stations.

Background[]

Composer Inon Zur reprises his role as composer. Building on how Fallout 76 is to be four times larger than Fallout 4, Zur commented that "the music follows the game's footsteps in its vastness and grandeur." The score was performed and recorded by the Budapest Film Orchestra and the Lyris String Quartet.[1]

Developer Todd Howard remarked upon the licensed music tracks at the 2018 QuakeCon panel.[2]

And we have a lot of licensed music as well so we have more tracks than we've ever had in a Fallout game. So there are radio stations that you can listen to, something we've loved in the series and it's always fun to go through and say like okay, "What are the classic tracks we want to have?"

And then there is an unbelievable amount of just bizarre, old 40s music like, there's some wacky, there's some wacky stuff. It's great for Fallout so sometimes it's like, "Hey, what's the mood of this song?" and then other ones are "Hey, this is the song that has, you know, this kind of, you know, the slant on the lyrics as it appears in Fallout when it's post-apocalyptic and make it really fun."

Music supervision and licensing was done by Christopher S. Parker and Tim Scalin with music coordinator Ian M. Anderson for Brandracket, LLC.
