Wright was an instructor of the Scorpions, a school of talented martial artists that helped keep the peace in New York City during hard times. He was also a friend of the Lee brothers.
Anderson, a high ranking member of the Scorpions and Billy Lee's rival, decided to kill two birds with one stone by murdering Wright and framing the brothers for the murder. Apparently, he used Wright's hand to scribble Billy's name in his own blood next to the latter's gun so everyone would think they were the responsibles.

- On the Double Dragon II (GB) game files, two images depicting the murdered Wright can be found, although they went unused within the game, probably due to Nintendo's censorship policies of the time.
