The City Slums, also known by the generic name of Mission 1, is the first stage in Double Dragon. This area holds a special significance as it was here where the entire Double Dragon franchise took off. The level has also been featured in many expanded ports and remakes of the first game, as well as in some of its sequels.
Overview[]
This mission holds the distinction of being virtually identical across all versions of the game. At the beginning of the mission In all versions except the mobile version, the Black Warriors assault Marian outside the Lee Brothers' residence and carry her off. The brothers then emerge from their garage in pursuit. The mission itself is a straightforward walk through the street. About halfway through, there is a ledge the player can climb onto and off of using a pair of ladders. At the end of the street, the player reaches the entrance to the factory and faces the game's first boss.
