Anika Noni Rose is an American actress, voice actress, and singer. She provided both the speaking and singing voices of Princess Tiana in Disney's 2009 animated feature film The Princess and the Frog. In August 2011, Rose became one of the few African-Americans to be crowned a Disney Legend for her performance in The Princess and the Frog, as well as breaking Phil Collins' record for the shortest time between first contributing to The Walt Disney Company and being named a Disney Legend. In December 2014, she reprised the role of Tiana in an episode of Sofia the First and for the 2018 animated feature film Ralph Breaks the Internet. She also voiced Dr. Jan in Amphibia and Eureka and Livy's Mom in Star Wars: Visions. She will reprise her role of Tiana in the 2024 TV series of the same name.

Career[]

Rose gained prominence through her early theatre career with shows, like Threepenny Opera, Footloose, Me and Mrs. Jones and Caroline, or Change. She performed as the original Angelica Schuyler when Hamilton was being workshopped. She eventually found film success with the hit adaptation of Dreamgirls with Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé, Eddie Murphy, and Jennifer Hudson. Her other film appearances include For Colored Girls, Temptation, Everything, Everything, and Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey.

Rose made appearances on television with shows, like The Good Wife, Private Practice, Bates Motel, Power, The Qaud, and the 2016 remake of Roots.

She continues to perform on Broadway, winning acclaim for the shows A Raisin in the Sun and the title role of Carmen Jones.
