Kisuke Urahara vs. Yammy Llargo

Kisuke Urahara vs. Yammy Llargo is a fight taking place during the Arrancar Invasion between Kisuke Urahara and Espada #0. Yammy Llargo, acting as their second confrontation overall.

Prelude[]

In Las Noches, after having his right arm reattached by Roka Paramia, Yammy Llargo attends the Arrancarification ceremony of Wonderweiss Margela alongside Coyote Starrk, Tier Harribel, Ulquiorra Cifer, Nnoitra Gilga, Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez, and Luppi Antenor, where Sōsuke Aizen temporarily fully awakens the Hōgyoku by briefly fusing with it in order to create Wonderweiss. Once this is done, Aizen reminds Ulquiorra of the order they discussed a month prior and instructs him to carry it out while taking anyone he wishes along with him, with Ulquiorra selecting Yammy among several others to accompany him.^[2]

Shortly afterward, a Garganta rips open in the sky above Karakura Town to reveal Yammy, Luppi, Grimmjow, and Wonderweiss standing within. When Yammy notes that they picked a good spot because there are combatants with strong Reiatsu below them, Luppi observes that these are Shinigami and likely the reinforcements from Soul Society that the sixth Espada told them about, but snidely corrects himself and addresses Grimmjow as the former sixth Espada after turning to him. However, Grimmjow simply asserts that the man he wants to kill is not down there and leaps away from the Garganta, startling Yammy, who is told by Luppi to let Grimmjow go since the latter is worthless now that he has had his tattoo burned off and is no longer an Espada.^[3]

When Yammy realizes that the one he wants to kill is not down there either, Luppi inquires about whether he is referring to the one who cut off his arm, the one who beat him up, or the one who deflected his Cero, prompting a grinning Yammy to declare that he is referring to all of them prior to telling Wonderweiss that it is time to go and berating him for just standing there and drooling, only for Wonderweiss to not respond and continue staring into space, to Yammy's disappointment. Suddenly, Hitsugaya attacks Yammy in a flurry of ice, forcing Yammy to partially draw his Zanpakutō in order to defend himself against the slash, and introduces himself, which leads Yammy to comment on the coincidence since he is Arrancar #10. Upon being identified as an Espada by Hitsugaya, Yammy observes that he must have fought someone who likes to talk if he knows about them.^[4]

Minutes later, Yammy shatters the ice encasing him and mockingly calls it refreshingly cool while Hitsugaya internally realizes that he will have to use his Bankai against Yammy even with the Gentei Kaijo leaving his power unrestricted. Nearby, Luppi is annoyed by 11th Division 5th Seat Yumichika Ayasegawa's weakness and asks Yammy to let him have Hitsugaya so he can take Ikkaku, Yumichika, Hitsugaya, and Rangiku on all at once with his Resurrección, since he considers them too weak to fight individually. Simultaneously, in the Study Chamber beneath the Urahara Shop, 6th Division Lieutenant Renji Abarai insists that Yasutora Sado stay in the Study Chamber and recover from using up too much of his energy while Renji responds to the Arrancar in his stead. However, Kisuke Urahara points out that Renji is just as exhausted, meaning that they both need to stay here and recover, and declares that he will be going out instead as he wields his Shikai, Benihime.^[5]

Some time later, Luppi succeeds in binding 10th Division Lieutenant Rangiku Matsumoto with the tentacles of his Resurrección, Trepadora, and compliments Rangiku for having such a curvaceous body, but threatens to puncture it with many holes as he uses Hierro Virgen to sprout dozens of spikes from the tip of the tentacle restraining Rangiku, who grimaces upon seeing it hurtle toward her. Suddenly, the tentacle is severed by Kamisori, Benihime, freeing Rangiku and shocking Luppi, and Urahara expresses relief at arriving just in time. When an annoyed Luppi questions who he is, Urahara apologizes for not introducing himself and explains that he runs a candy store called the Urahara Shop as he claims that it is delightful to make Luppi's acquaintance and prepares to attack.^[6]

However, Urahara is interrupted when Wonderweiss gleefully attacks him from behind, forcing Urahara to repel him with Nake, Benihime. While Urahara comments on him being somewhat strange, a smiling Wonderweiss raises his left hand^[7] and fires a Bala at a startled Urahara, who skids back through the air with a smoking wound on his shoulder and admits that he has never seen this technique before inquiring about what it is called.^[8]

Battle[]

Suddenly, Urahara is blasted from behind by a Bala from Yammy, who laughs maniacally and explains that a Bala is a projectile of hardened Reiatsu that trades the power of a Cero for twenty times its speed. Yammy proceeds to fire several more Bala down at a fallen Urahara, who is engulfed by the dust cloud kicked up on impact, and revels in the latter's inability to dodge them.^[9] However, upon seeing Luppi defeated by Hitsugaya, an astonished Yammy angrily chastises him for underestimating the Shinigami instead of immediately finishing them off, but is interrupted when Urahara appears behind Yammy and finishes the latter's claim that Aizen will punish them if they lose here.^[10]

In response, a startled Yammy turns around and swings his fist toward Urahara, who evades with Shunpo and finishes Yammy's questioning of how he can be alive by wondering what Yammy thinks. Despite this, an irritated Yammy simply demands Urahara stop finishing his sentences and fires a Bala at Urahara, who is engulfed in a cloud of smoke upon impact. However, as a triumphant Yammy asks him how it feels to be shattered to pieces, Urahara appears behind Yammy and holds the blade of Benihime to Yammy's cheek before stating he has seen the technique enough times to prevent Yammy from hitting him with it again and firing a point-blank Nake, Benihime at Yammy, who is left bloodied while Urahara brings up Yammy's assumption that all of his Balas hit Urahara and his disbelief at Urahara surviving.^[11]

Urahara pulls out a small sphere, which he claims is the secret, and places it against his lips to blow air into it, causing it to inflate into a Portable Gigai that looks exactly like him. When an astonished Yammy furiously questions what this is since he has never heard of it before, Urahara affirms that this is the case solely because he has never shown it to anyone before and observes that he is probably the only one who could successfully use it as a decoy in combat in addition to making it since it is difficult to switch places with while squeezing the air out of the mouth of the Portable Gigai between his hands, causing it to deflate.^[12]

With Urahara wondering if Yammy could tell when he made the switch, an angered Yammy attempts to fire another Bala at him, but Urahara reiterates that Yammy cannot hit him with this anymore and counters the blast by placing Benihime against Yammy's fist and performing Tsuppane, Benihime, leaving Yammy to stare at him in shock as Urahara details how he analyzed both the Reishi composition of the Bala and the movement of Yammy's muscles when he fires one, allowing him to dodge or counteract it at will despite the difficulty of doing so, and invites Yammy to finish this battle, which Yammy furiously agrees to.^[13]

Aftermath[]

Some time later, once Ulquiorra completes his own mission and begins extracting his team, Yammy is engulfed by a Negación beam and observes with annoyance that they are done here as a startled Urahara turns to see two more beams engulfing Wonderweiss and Luppi.^[14] That night, a concerned Urahara ruminates on recent events alone as his allies tend to their injuries.^[15]
