Posting Questions or Messages

  • How do I post a question?

    1. Go to the product board you want to post on and click New post.
    2. On the new post page, you will see a Subject area and a Body area.
    3. Type a title for your message in the Subject field.
    4. Use keywords about your topic. This is the only part of the message that appears on the message-listing page, so try to make it clear and concise.
    5. Type your question or message in the Body field. This is where you add details about your topic. If you are posting on a technical topic, it is helpful to include all relevant information in the body.
    6. Use the menu buttons to change the fonts, colors, and other aspects of your message.
    7. Click Spellcheck to look for misspelled words, or click Preview Post to see what your post will look like on the boards.
    8. Click Submit Post when you are ready to publish your message to the board for all members to see.
  • How do I reply to a message?

When you read a message you want to reply to, click Reply to open a text edit field and write your response. You'll see a screen similar to the New post screen, with a few differences:
    • When you reply to a post, the subject field automatically populates. You can change it if you need to.
    • You can use the Quote button to paste the original message into the body of your reply.
    • When you post a reply, it appears on the existing thread. It will not create a new thread.
  • What is a me too?

    • Clicking Me too on a post lets the author know that you have the same issue or that you like the post.
    • Sometimes, a post is locked and cannot accept any more replies, Me too clicks, or XP. Those options will not appear on a locked post.
  • How do I use macros?

Macros let you create a pre-made message, such as troubleshooting tips you use often, that you can paste into any message.

    To set up a macro:

    1. Click Settings from the menu at the top of the site under your username. On the settings page, click Macros. You can create up to 50 macros.
    2. Type a name for the first macro in the Macro 1 title box. Make the name short, but memorable (you'll choose it by name from a menu).
    3. Type the text you want to paste in the Macro 1 box. Enter names and text for your other macros.
    4. Click Save.

To use a macro in a post:

    1. From a post page, click in the Subject or Body area where you want to paste the macro text.
    2. Choose a macro in the Macros menu. The text of your macro appears wherever your cursor was.
  • What are Accepted Solutions?

You can choose the reply that best answers a question that you post by marking it as an Accepted Solution. When you accept a solution, both the question and the solution get special icons and links that navigate directly from the question to the answer and back again.

An Accepted Solutions icon appears on boards and in search results so you can see which messages have solutions.

  • How do I mark a message as a solution?

If you post a question to a board, you can choose the reply that best answers your question by clicking Accept as Solution on the reply.

If you change your mind about the quality of the answer, or if another reply provides a better answer, you can revoke the first selection and accept the second reply.

  • To revoke an accepted solution:

    • Open the Options menu (gear icon) and choose Not the Solution.
    • Choose another solution or leave the question unsolved.
  • Why are there EA logos on some solutions?

Accepted solutions posted by EA Community Team members contain the EA logo. Solutions posted by members of the AHQ community feature a green checkmark.
